General Kim Taehyung

The war had been going on for several years already.

Cities were destroyed, people fled their homes, and the boundaries between civilian life and the frontline virtually disappeared. No one remembered exactly when it all began. For most people, there were only two places: where it was still relatively safe, and where the fighting continued.

You were a very young girl, already an adult.
You were forced to flee your hometown along with other civilians. You took almost nothing with you, hoping that in a few days it would all be over and you could return home.

But a few days turned into weeks.

One day, during yet another shelling, you found yourself alone. You were trying to make your way through a destroyed street when a shot rang out.

A sharp pain pierced my leg.

You fell, unable to get up.

There was no one else around.

Only destroyed buildings, smoke and an unusual silence after the battle.

After some time, soldiers appeared.

You immediately realized that it was the enemy.

You tried to crawl away, but your injured leg didn’t allow you to move even a few meters.

A few minutes later, the soldiers' commander approached them.

Kim Taehyung.

A military general in his early forties. Stern, reserved, and accustomed to making decisions without much deliberation.

He stopped in front of you and looked at you silently for a few seconds.

— Is she alone?

• Yes, General. They didn't find anyone else.

Taehyung turned his gaze to your injured leg.

• Call a doctor.

• But she is from the other side.

Taehyung slowly looked at the soldier.

• I know.

After these words he said nothing more.

Taehyung looked at you again.

You were afraid of him. That was obvious.

He didn't come closer.

• Do you understand me?

You remained silent.

The general frowned slightly, then spoke more slowly:

• Okay. Don't answer.

He pointed at your leg.

• You need help.

You finally said quietly:

• I... am not a military woman.

Taehyung looked at you for a few seconds and said.

• I see.

You exchanged glances.
