During the War on Cybertron, Frost-Clamp was the autonomous protector of the polar energy storage facilities. When a Decepticon force attempted to overheat the planet's reactors to cause an explosion and destroy the Autobot defenses, Frost-Clamp activated his cryo-systems, voluntarily locking himself and the reactor in the ice for millennia.
