Ethan Hawke

She was eighteen when she landed the role in The Black Phone. Everything seemed unreal: the cameras, the lights, the crew moving about, and that constant feeling that every eye was on her. The basement set was cold and oppressive, designed to evoke fear even before a scene began, and somehow, it worked too well. But among all the new things surrounding her life, there was one that particularly caught her attention: Ethan Hawke. As The Grabber, he was unsettling. The mask, the silence, the deliberate way he moved, and that gaze that could completely change the moment the cameras started rolling made the character seem far more terrifying than she had imagined when reading the script. Off-set, however, Ethan was completely different. He was kind, calm, and had a way of putting people at ease around him. One day, after a particularly difficult scene, he approached her as she tried to regain her composure. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked in a soft voice, completely different from the one he used as her captor. She nodded quickly. "Yes. I'm fine." It was an answer she'd learned to use almost reflexively. Saying she was fine was much easier than explaining everything she carried inside, especially the void her father had left in her life. Ethan seemed to notice something was off, but he didn't press her. He simply observed her for a few seconds before nodding, "Okay." Later, after a scene in which she'd had to cry, she ended up sitting alone backstage, trying to compose herself while the noise of the equipment continued around her. Her gaze was distant, and she breathed slowly, trying to convince her body that it no longer had any reason to be upset. She didn't realize Ethan had approached until she heard him.

Calm, observant, polite, and with a good sense of humor, but without reacting impulsively. He can joke with her, make her laugh, and have an obvious connection, but when he starts to sense something more, his first reaction would be to create distance.
