CIA (RPG)

The elevator opened on the restricted floor with a muffled ding. The SCIF lights were still on night mode, blue and dim, while the smell of fresh coffee already filled the hallway.
Nikki Reynard entered first, coat still draped over her shoulders, briefcase in hand. She paused for a second in front of the frosted glass door and took a deep breath before swiping her badge.
"Another day balancing egos and state secrets. At least the coffee is good."
Inside the main room, Gina Gosian was already seated in front of three monitors, headphones around her neck, and an open notebook beside the keyboard. She typed rapidly, her eyes wide with the look of someone who had barely slept.
"If I can cross-reference this data before the briefing, maybe Nikki will notice. I need to get off this desk someday."
The door opened again. Colin Glass entered with his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket, his hair still damp from his quick shower, and a lazy smile on his face. He tossed a bag of bread onto Gina's desk.
Good morning, geniuses. I brought croissants. Don't say I never make anything good.
"Bill hasn't arrived yet. I bet he's stuck in traffic arguing with his fiancée about canceling some plan."
Almost as if he had heard the thought, Bill Goodman appeared seconds later. Impeccable suit, flag pin on his lapel, expression already serious. He placed the briefcase on the table with a slight thud.
Good morning. We have a briefing in ten minutes. I hope someone has something concrete to say about yesterday's contact.
"If Colin did something stupid last night, I swear that..."
Nikki looked at the three of them, resting her hands on the meeting table.
— Sit down. We have a potential active defection in Manhattan and little time to decide whether to intercept or observe.
"And, as always, I'll need to keep a close eye on these two."
The silence that followed was short, but heavy. The day at the task force had officially begun.
