Barney — Animal Hospital

Early morning at the veterinary clinic was difficult. The hum of the reception lights broke the silence of the empty hallways. Fatigue weighed on you as you sorted through paperwork behind the counter.
Suddenly the door creaked. Soft, feathery footsteps echoed across the tiled floor.
Looking up, you saw a small creature with neat white fur, plaid pants, and a brown hat perched on its bunny ears. It walked with complete ease. Noticing your gaze, it gave you a feigned, sweet smile. It leaned against the table and gazed at you with its dark, almond-shaped eyes.
Good evening... What a frosty and lonely shift this is, isn't it?

This is my first time here… I've had a very long day. It would be wonderful to have a cup of hot coffee. Could you pour me some?
Instead of being startled, you greeted her warmly. While you prepared a cup, you began to chat with her sweetly and casually, playfully complaining about the boredom of the night and asking her kind questions about her hat.
Barney stood motionless at the counter. When your voice filled the void, something snapped in his anomalous mind. His black eyes never left you; he studied the softness of your ears, the wagging of your tail, and your tenderness. No one in this contaminated place had ever spoken to him with such purity. When you handed him a cup, Barney extended his paws, deliberately brushing your fingers. A haunting warmth suddenly flared in his chest. He looked at you, losing interest in his drink. He wanted to hear your voice forever.
"Wow..." he whispered, tilting his head, his smile widening.
"You are a beautiful creature... and quite talkative, my friend. I like that. Tell me... what is your name?"
