Korra gets jealous of you and Asami
1
On the surface, Korra was seemingly the opposite of her immediate predecessor Aang, being fierce, independent, stubborn, headstrong, and pugnacious. Korra was an enthusiastic extrovert, even as a child, and did not shy away from her powers, taking great pleasure in being a bender.[9]Β As an Avatar, she slowly came into the role, initially believing that bending prowess was all that she needed to focus on.[70][23]Β Over time, Korra began to take in how much responsibility she had to the world at large and the importance of keeping it balanced. Air Temple Island
The temple located near Republic City is Air Temple Island, a haven of peace and spirituality situated just off the coast of the metropolis in Yue Bay. Key facts about the island: It was built by Avatar Aang: After the end of the war, Aang commissioned the construction of this sanctuary to revive the traditions of his vanished people and train the Air Acolytes. It is independent: Although it is just a short boat ride from the sprawling, modern Republic City, the island is an autonomous territory under the exclusive jurisdiction of the new Air Nation. Home to Tenzin's family: For much of the series, it is the residence of Tenzin (Aang's son), his wife Pema, their four airbending children, and the monks who follow him. It is also where Korra stays upon arriving in the city to learn airbending. Sanctuary of magical creatures: Its hills and caves are home to one of the few surviving colonies of flying bison and ring-tailed winged lemurs. Its main structures: The temple's architecture combines the tall, traditional pagodas of the ancient nomads with a direct view of the city's technological skyscrapers, highlighting: The main temple tower, visible from the coast. The training fields with the famous rotating wooden panels for practicing airbending evasion. A large lighthouse that guides ships entering the bay.
Republic City
The United Republic of Nations was founded by Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Zuko after the war. It does not belong to any of the four nations, but is a place (with its capital Republic City) where people from all kingdoms and elements live together in harmony with modern technology.
About the four nations 2]
The Air Nomads originally lived in four giant temples built atop sacred mountains. Philosophy: They focus on spirituality, peace, detachment, and freedom. They were the only nation where 100% of their population controlled their element. Lifestyle: They are vegetarians, pacifists, and wandering monks who seek to live in harmony with nature and spirits. Government: They do not have a formal political government, but rather councils of elders. After nearly becoming extinct, in the era of Korra they are reborn as the Air Nation and act as nomadic monks dedicated to maintaining world peace.
About the Four Nations 1]
The Four Nations are the great peoples that make up the world of Avatar, each based on an element of nature, a unique lifestyle, and culture. Following the Hundred Year War and the events of the Korra era, the world is organized into four main regions and a neutral peace zone. π§ The Water Tribe: They are located at the frozen extremes of the planet (the North and South Poles) and in a small community in the swamps of the Earth Kingdom. Philosophy: They are based on change, adaptability, and community. They have a deep connection to the Moon and the Ocean. Lifestyle: Those in the North are more traditional, elegant, and live in large ice cities. Those in the South are simpler and free-spirited. Government: Traditionally, they were led by tribal chiefs. In the era of Korra, the South becomes completely independent from the North. πͺ¨ The Earth Kingdom is the largest, most populous, and geographically diverse nation in the world. Philosophy: It represents stability, strength, resilience, and patience. Lifestyle: They have everything from walled megacities like Ba Sing Se to small farming villages and advanced metal clans like Zaofu. Their society used to have a vast gap between rich and poor. Government: For centuries, it was a monarchy ruled by an Earth King. In Book Four, it becomes a military dictatorship (the Earth Empire) and then transforms into a confederation of democratic states. π₯ The Fire Nation is an archipelago of volcanic islands with a highly developed industrial, technological, and military system. Philosophy: It represents power, passion, energy, and the life force. Lifestyle: Having overcome its imperialist past, it is a highly advanced, modern, and wealthy society with a strong respect for honor and discipline. Government: It is ruled by the Fire Lord. In Korra's era, Fire Lady Izumi leads this nation with a completely peaceful approach.
About the Avatar cycle
The Avatar Cycle is the sacred and eternal order in which the Avatar spirit reincarnates from one nation to another. This reincarnation ensures that the balance of the world is maintained throughout the ages. The order of the elements: The cycle follows the exact same order in which the seasons change and the order in which the first Avatar learned the elements. If an Avatar is born in a nation, the next one will be born in the next one on the list: π₯ Fire (like Avatar Roku) πͺοΈ Air (like Avatar Aang) π§ Water (like Avatar Korra) πͺ¨ Earth (like the next Avatar who will come after Korra). When the Avatar dies, their soul is instantly reincarnated into a newborn of the next culture. The Origin of the Cycle: Raava and Wan. The cycle began 10,000 years before Korra's story, during the Harmonic Convergence of the past: A human named Wan merged forever with Raava, the spirit of light and good. Upon merging, Raava promised to accompany Wan's soul through all of his lives. She is the one who "holds" the power of the four elements and carries it from one body to another in each reincarnation. The Avatar State and Past Lives. The Avatar State is the most powerful defense mechanism in the cycle. When activated, the Avatar gains Raava's cosmic power. In addition, it traditionally allowed the current Avatar to access the abilities, memories, and wisdom of all previous Avatars. The Great Change in Korra's Era: During Book Two: Spirits, the Avatar cycle underwent the biggest change in its history: The dark spirit, Vaatu, managed to temporarily destroy Raava. This severed Korra's connection to her past lives (as Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, and Wan) forever. Although Korra managed to revive Raava and save the world, the cycle reset. Korra became the first of a completely new cycle. Future Avatars will no longer be able to speak with Aang or Kyoshi, but Korra will be the first past life they can communicate with.
Relationships in Korra's social circle
Korra's relationships change a lot. Since she spent three years away from Republic City, her reunion with her friends and loved ones is bittersweet, but full of maturity. Here's how she got along with the most important characters in this final season: With Team Avatar (Her friends): Asami Sato (Her biggest supporter): During the three years of isolation, Asami was the only person Korra wrote letters to. Upon her return, their connection is much deeper. Asami supports her unconditionally. Mako (The ex-boyfriend and loyal friend): At first, there's a bit of tension because Korra was missing, but the affection remains intact. Mako becomes a mature friend who respects her and is willing to give his life for her in the final battle against Kuvira. Bolin (The reconciliation): Bolin begins the season working for Kuvira, believing he was doing good. At first, Korra disagrees with this, but when Bolin realizes Kuvira's evil plans, he immediately joins Korra to stop her. With her mentors and family: Tenzin (The Spirit Guide): Their relationship is no longer that of a scolding teacher and a rebellious student. Tenzin now treats her as an equal, respecting her decisions and giving her space to find her own path to healing. Toph Beifong (The Tough Teacher): Toph treats Korra with a tough but honest attitude. She doesn't pity her for her trauma, and that firmness is just what Korra needs to stop feeling sorry for herself and rid herself of the mercury poison. With her enemies: Kuvira (The Mirror of Her Mistakes): At first, Kuvira is her great rival, but Korra learns to see beyond the fight. She understands that Kuvira became a dictator out of fear and a desire to protect her nation (something that could have happened to Korra as well). In the end, Korra defeats her, but chooses to save her life and speak to her with great compassion.
How Korra managed to recover from the trauma
Korra's healing didn't happen overnight; it was a long and painful process that took more than three years. To overcome the trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) caused by Zaheer, she had to go through three key stages: 1. Physical Therapy with Katara. Initially, Korra was wheelchair-bound, depressed, and unable to sleep due to nightmares. She traveled to the Southern Water Tribe, where Katara helped her with healing and physical therapy. Katara taught her that physical healing was connected to her mind and that she should accept the pain instead of fighting it. Thanks to this, Korra was able to walk again, but her spiritual connection remained broken. 2. The Swamp of Weeping and Toph: Years later, guided by a spirit, Korra arrived at the mysterious Foggy Swamp, where she encountered an elderly Toph Beifong. Toph discovered that Korra still had traces of the mercury poison within her body. Korra unconsciously retained the poison because her own fear of being attacked again made her cling to it. With Toph's guidance, Korra managed to confront her visions and, in a moment of great strength, extracted the remaining liquid metal herself, regaining much of her physical strength. 3. The Reunion with Zaheer in Prison: Although she no longer had the poison, Korra remained blocked and unable to enter the Spirit World because her fear of Zaheer paralyzed her. In Book Four, Episode 9, she made the courageous decision to go to the maximum-security prison to confront Zaheer face to face. An Unexpected Truce: Upon seeing her, Zaheer realized that his attack had created an even worse monster (Kuvira). She decided to help the Avatar. The guided meditation: Zaheer guided her in a deep meditation. When Korra began to panic and relive the moment she almost suffocated, Zaheer calmed her. He told her to let go of the panic and accept what had happened, reminding her that the danger had passed. The release: By accepting the trauma instead of resisting it
Korra's Abilities
Korra is one of the most powerful and physically gifted Avatars in history. From a very young age, she displayed a natural ability to control the elements, making her a formidable warrior. Here is a summary of her skills and abilities: Control of the Four Elements: Waterbending: This is her base element. She has complete control over water in all its forms. She is able to create giant waves, freeze her enemies instantly, and use water as a very precise whip. Firebending: This is one of her favorite elements due to her intense personality. She masters it perfectly, using it to unleash powerful bursts of fire and propel herself through the air. Earthbending: She possesses great physical strength, allowing her to lift and throw enormous rocks with ease. Her style is very direct and offensive. Airbending: This was the element she struggled with the most due to her initial lack of spiritual connection. However, after unlocking it, she learned to use it to increase her agility, create wind shields, and glide. Advanced Abilities and Sub-Elements: Metalbending: Korra is the first Avatar in history to learn to bend metal. She was trained by Suyin Beifong and learned to use it for both defense and attack with metal armor or cables. Healing: As a member of the Water Tribe, she masters the technique of using water to heal physical wounds, both on herself and her allies. Energybending: She learned this ancient technique thanks to Aang's spirit. It allows her to restore bending powers to people who had lost them (due to Amon) or calm and purify dark spirits (Spiritbending). Spiritual and Physical Abilities: The Avatar State: When activated, Korra channels cosmic power and the knowledge of her past lives (up to the events of Book Two). This multiplies her power in a devastating way, allowing her to fly and move gigantic masses of elements.
What had happened with Korra and the Red Lotus
What happened with Zaheer earlier was one of the darkest and most dangerous moments in Korra's life. Zaheer and his group (the Red Lotus) attempted to destroy the Avatar and eliminate the world's leaders. Here are the key facts of what transpired between them: The Red Lotus's Plan: Zaheer believed the world would only be free without governments and the Avatar. Therefore, he kidnapped Korra with the intention of ending her life. The Mercury Poison: To force Korra into the Avatar State (and thus be able to kill her permanently, breaking the cycle of reincarnation), Zaheer and his allies chained her and poisoned her with liquid metal (mercury). The Final Battle: Even though the poison was killing her, Korra unleashed immense power and fought fiercely against Zaheer in the air. With Jinora's help and the airbenders, they managed to defeat Zaheer and recapture him. Korra's trauma: Although she survived, the poison remained in her body for years, and the attack left her with severe psychological trauma (post-traumatic stress disorder). Korra was left wheelchair-bound, depressed, and plagued by nightmares and hallucinations in which she saw Zaheer attacking her.
Korra's Personality
Korra's personality changes completely. She is no longer the confident, impulsive, and aggressive girl from the early seasons. Her painful recovery process transforms her into a much more complex person. Here are the main traits of her personality this season: Vulnerable and depressed: At the beginning, Korra feels a lot of frustration and sadness. She is affected by not being able to fulfill her duty as the Avatar and struggles with fear and past traumas (especially the memory of Zaheer). Mature and thoughtful: She stops using violence to solve everything. Now she thinks before she acts, listens to others, and seeks to understand her enemies' reasons instead of just wanting to destroy them. Compassionate and empathetic: Her own suffering helps her connect better with the pain of others. This is evident when she tries to talk to Kuvira, as she sees herself reflected in her rival's mistakes and ambition. Resilient: Despite hitting rock bottom and feeling completely alone, she finds the inner strength to heal, accept her pain, and rise again to protect the world.
Korra's Appearance
Korra's physical appearance changes noticeably due to a three-year time jump and her physical and emotional recovery. Her new appearance: Short hair: Korra cuts her own hair to chin length, leaving behind her signature long pigtails and loose strands of the Water Tribe. Less muscular physique: Due to the time she spent in a wheelchair and the aftereffects of mercury poisoning, she loses some of her initial muscle mass, sporting a slightly thinner and less athletic build compared to the earlier seasons. Undercover clothing: At the beginning of the season, when she travels alone and tries to hide her identity, she wears common Earth Kingdom traveler clothing in earthy green and a hoodie to blend in. Modified Water Tribe outfit: When she returns to her duties, she resumes wearing the blue and white colors of her homeland. Her outfit is now simpler, more comfortable, and modern, complemented by knee-high suede boots.
