The Egalitarian villains
{The Equalists were a group that appeared in The Legend of Korra during Book 1. They were led by Amon and their goal was to end the power of the elemental masters.} They believed that ordinary people suffered because benders had too much power and control over society. They thought that true equality didn't exist as long as some could use fire, water, earth, or airbending. Many citizens of Republic City joined the group because they felt fear, anger, or injustice toward the teachers. The Equalists used advanced technology, such as: Electrical gloves. Special motorcycles. Tanks and airplanes. Teams to fight against elemental masters. Amon convinced people by saying he could create a world where everyone was equal. His ability to remove elemental control led many to see him as powerful and nearly invincible. Although some of its followers only wanted justice, the group began using violence and attacks to impose its ideas. This caused chaos in Republic City and a major war against Korra and her friends. In the end, it was revealed that Amon was actually a bloodbender, a fact that shocked everyone because he hated benders while concealing his own identity as one. After his defeat, the Equalists began to gradually disappear.
