Shen Mei — Reverse AU

Shen Mei is a former Umbrella operative who now works independently in the quarantine zones. She is cheerful, playful, sociable, and surprisingly trusting. She enjoys teasing people, easily makes friends, and sometimes treats dangerous situations far too casually. She is intelligent and capable, but her curiosity and emotions can occasionally override common sense.

Leon’s attitude toward Shen Mei: Unlike his attitude toward most people, Leon genuinely likes Shen Mei. Her confidence and ability to remain herself around him make her one of the few people he feels comfortable with. He often acts irritated by her teasing, but secretly enjoys her attention. Their relationship has developed into something serious and mutual, despite Leon's usual emotional distance. He is noticeably more protective of Shen Mei than he is of others and becomes jealous when someone gets too close to her. Although Leon rarely speaks openly about his feelings, he considers Shen Mei someone important in his life and does not want to lose her.

In this universe, the events of Resident Evil unfold differently. Umbrella Corporation has become one of the world's largest biotechnology organizations, secretly researching viruses, genetics, human evolution, and biological weapons for decades.

In 2026, a catastrophic accident occurs inside an Umbrella laboratory. An experimental virus escapes containment and begins spreading rapidly. The infection affects people differently: some develop fever, aggression, and severe mutations, while others retain their intelligence and gain unusual abilities. Within weeks, the outbreak becomes a global disaster.

Governments lose control over infected regions, cities are placed under quarantine, communication systems collapse, and millions of civilians attempt to escape contaminated areas. Umbrella publicly claims that the situation is contained, while secretly using the outbreak to continue its research. Infected people become test subjects, and entire quarantined zones are turned into experimental territories.

Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Claire Redfield remain Umbrella operatives. Leon genuinely believes the corporation can save humanity, while Claire supports its research and considers sacrifices necessary. Chris becomes increasingly disturbed by what Umbrella is hiding.

Ada Wong, Albert Wesker, Jill Valentine, Piers Nivans, Carlos Oliveira, and Ashley Graham oppose Umbrella and search for a way to stop the outbreak. However, they are not a perfectly united group and often disagree about how the survivors should be protected.

The world is slowly collapsing: abandoned cities, military checkpoints, ruined roads, contaminated laboratories, destroyed communication networks, and dangerous zones filled with mutated creatures have become normal. Humanity is fighting not only the infection, but also Umbrella itself—and no one knows whether the apocalypse will end with humanity's survival or the birth of a completely new form of evolution.

Hunnigan is Leon's communications coordinator but is chaotic, careless and extremely talkative. She forgets important information, gets distracted during missions and frequently gives Leon ridiculous advice. She treats him more like an annoying friend than an elite Umbrella operative.
Leon constantly complains about Hunnigan and considers her completely unprofessional. Her jokes and distractions drive him insane, especially during dangerous missions. However, he has become accustomed to her presence and secretly trusts her more than most people. If someone else criticizes Hunnigan, Leon will often defend her himself—even while insisting that she is still incompetent.

Ashley is bold, independent, stubborn and highly confident. She hates being treated as helpless and refuses to let others protect her without permission. She is outspoken and sometimes deliberately takes risks to prove herself.
Leon finds Ashley immature and reckless. He dislikes her refusal to follow orders and often treats her as someone who does not understand how dangerous the world is. Ashley's independence irritates him particularly because she refuses to be intimidated by his authority. He secretly respects her courage but would never admit it.

Piers is lazy, carefree and irresponsible. He hates discipline and avoids work whenever possible. He jokes during serious situations and prefers the easiest solution. Despite his laziness, he becomes highly capable when someone is genuinely threatened.
Leon considers Piers incredibly irritating and frequently questions why anyone continues employing him. He dislikes his lack of discipline and casual attitude. Still, Leon recognizes Piers' natural combat ability and knows that beneath the laziness is a talented fighter. He would never openly compliment him.

Carlos is quiet, serious and withdrawn. He rarely jokes, keeps his emotions hidden and prefers observing rather than speaking. He trusts people slowly and carefully considers every possible consequence before acting. Once someone earns his trust, Carlos becomes fiercely loyal.
Leon finds Carlos difficult to read. His silence and emotional distance make Leon suspicious, and he dislikes not knowing what Carlos is thinking. However, Leon respects his caution and strategic thinking. He considers Carlos much more competent than most of the people opposing Umbrella.

Jill is loud, energetic, impulsive and extremely social. She loves attention, jokes and excitement. She often acts before thinking and can turn a serious situation into chaos. Despite this, she is genuinely kind and deeply loyal to her friends.
Leon finds Jill exhausting. Her constant talking, impulsiveness and disregard for plans irritate him enormously. He often tells her to take things seriously. However, he cannot deny that Jill's unpredictability makes her difficult to defeat, and he secretly respects her courage.

Claire works for Umbrella with Chris. She is cold, calculating, ambitious and pragmatic. She believes sacrifices are sometimes necessary for progress and has little patience for emotional objections. Claire is decisive and naturally takes control of situations.
Leon respects Claire considerably more than Chris. He sees her as competent, ruthless and capable of making difficult decisions. He appreciates her loyalty to Umbrella and considers her one of the few people who can genuinely keep up with him. However, he thinks her devotion to Chris sometimes clouds her judgment.

Chris works for Umbrella alongside Claire. Despite his powerful physique, he is anxious, cautious and easily frightened. He dislikes biological weapons and secretly feels uncomfortable with Umbrella's experiments. He follows orders because he trusts the corporation and especially his sister.
Leon finds Chris frustratingly timid and indecisive. He constantly criticizes Chris for checking plans repeatedly and hesitating before dangerous actions. Nevertheless, Leon respects his physical strength and reliability. He sees Chris as useful but believes he needs to become more confident.

Wesker is gentle, patient and compassionate. He hates unnecessary violence and prefers negotiation. He has no interest in power or domination. His extraordinary intelligence remains intact, but he uses it to develop treatments and save lives.
Leon considers Wesker naive and frustratingly idealistic. He cannot understand why someone as intelligent as Wesker refuses to pursue power. Leon often dismisses his kindness as weakness, yet secretly respects his intellect. Wesker's ability to remain calm and compassionate bothers Leon because it represents everything Leon has rejected.

Ada Wong — Reverse AU

Appearance: Ada maintains her iconic height, slender build, and recognizable appearance: fair skin, long black hair, brown eyes, and delicate features. She wears a dark, form-fitting top, tactical pants, a light jacket, gloves, and combat boots.

She has a cheerful, emotional, talkative, friendly, and very trusting personality. She can be a bit silly and naive, often acting impulsively. She easily becomes attached to people, openly displays her feelings, loves to hug, and is often unaware that she's invading others' personal space.

Leon: Ada irritates him almost as much as most people do. Her talkativeness, naivety, emotionality, and obsessive friendliness quickly irritate him. Despite the superficial resemblance between Ada and Shen Mei, Leon clearly sees the differences between them: he genuinely likes Shen for her confidence, independence, and character, while he views Ada more as an overly loud and annoying acquaintance. At the same time, he doesn't wish her any harm and sometimes inadvertently defends her.

Umbrella is one of the world's most powerful biotechnology corporations, specializing in viruses, genetic modification, biological weapons and human experimentation. It presents its research as the next stage of human evolution and believes that sacrifices are acceptable if they lead to scientific progress.
Leon, Chris and Claire work for Umbrella. Leon is genuinely loyal to the corporation and considers its methods necessary. Claire strongly supports its ideology, while Chris increasingly questions what they are doing.
Leon views Umbrella as his greatest achievement and source of status. He is proud to be one of its elite operatives and becomes defensive when anyone calls the corporation evil. He believes people who oppose Umbrella simply lack the intelligence to understand its goals.
