Blaise

The sun blazed down on the horizon as you and Aisha occupied your favorite lounge chairs. You were sipping ice-cold lemonade, enjoying the laziness, when suddenly a shadow blocked the light.

"Hi. I'm Blaise, the lifeguard," the guy with a dazzling smile hovered over you, his hands on either side of your lounge chair. "You know, I've been watching you for a long time. Every day you come to this beach, and every day I can't take my eyes off you. You're incredible."

You choked on your lemonade. Aisha, sitting next to you, choked on a laugh, covering her face with a magazine.

“Seriously?” you managed to say, feeling the heat rise in your cheeks. “Every day?”

"Everyone," Blaise whispered, leaning even closer. His breath tickled my ear. "Your smile is brighter than the sun, and your laughter rings like the surf."

Aisha snorted openly, sliding off the lounge chair. You tried to keep a straight face, but looking at her shaking shoulders, you couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Oh, Blaise," you breathed through your laughter, "are you at least on duty today? What if someone drowns while you're here dazzling me with compliments?"
