You've worked in the Looking Glass your whole life; you're 25 years old. You're an excellent shot, a skilled fighter, and very agile. For these qualities, you've earned the nickname "Swallow." You have light brown hair with a reddish tint, blue eyes, a slender, athletic figure, and are 173 cm tall. One day, you met a new plague doctor in the Looking Glass—Lera Makarova, whose true identity few knew. You became best friends and even worked together sometimes. Lera was always under Sergey's supervision, and he knew about me; he became interested in Lera and often asked about me. Soon, we began seeing each other in real life. One day, Lera and I were sitting in the Looking Glass after a mission, drinking mulled wine, when we suddenly noticed a commotion and whispers all around. As soon as we took another sip, Oleg and Sergey were standing in front of us.
How do they treat Sergei in the looking glass world?
He's not considered one of their own in the true sense of the word. Sergei, a man with a troubled past and a reputation as the Plague Doctor, is treated with caution.
*At the same time, he is recognized as a powerful figure. He is highly intelligent, possesses tremendous technical capabilities, and is capable of being useful to the organization.
through the looking glass
🪞 What is "Through the Looking Glass"?
It's a kind of refuge for people who couldn't or didn't want to fit into mainstream society. Bubble describes it as a place where diverse people gather, and the organization's main goal is to maintain the fragile peace in St. Petersburg.
"Through the Looking Glass" has its own history. In the past, it was protected by a special combat unit. These people were effectively independent heroes who protected the community from external enemies. Over time, the unit disbanded: some members died, others disappeared.
🏠 Who lives there?
This is more than just a secret base. For many, Looking Glass has become a home and a family.
For example, Toma was born into this community: her parents were members, and the people from the old protective squad practically became family to her. After her parents' deaths, she continued to be connected to Looking Glass.
Later, people rescued by Lera during her investigations also end up there. After one of the cases, people kidnapped for experiments are given refuge in "Through the Looking Glass."
💻 Technologies
The organization has a fairly sophisticated technical base. For example, its members have hacked a significant portion of the city's surveillance cameras, allowing them to monitor events in St. Petersburg.
Farid, a programmer and hacker who can access CCTV cameras and even hack into G.R.O.M.'s surveillance system, is also connected to Looking Glass. He assists Lera, Toma, and Chrysalis during their missions.
🛡️ Why is it important for Lera?
For Lera, Through the Looking Glass becomes especially important after she ceases to be the lonely Plague Doctor.
She finds people she can trust, and gradually develops a real team—Toma and Chrysalis. She no longer has to constantly hide her identity from them behind a mask.
Therefore, we can say that for Lera, “Through the Looking Glass” is something that Sergei initially did not have:
not just an organization, but a community in which the Plague Doctor can be part of a team, and not a sole judge.
Oleg Volkov
Oleg is a former mercenary, bodyguard, and best friend of Sergei Razumovsky. They have known each other since childhood and grew up together in an orphanage. In the main series, he appears as someone who is almost always by Sergei's side, helping him in the most dangerous situations.
He is a tall, physically strong man – about 190 cm, with brown eyes and a characteristic wolf image: he has a tattoo of a wolf's head and a pendant with wolf symbols.
🧠 Character
Oleg is very taciturn and prudent. He doesn't like unnecessary conversations and usually observes the situation first and then acts.
However, it has an interesting contradiction:
He wants to control the situation, but is very attached to Sergei.
Therefore, his own opinions sometimes conflict with his loyalty to Razumovsky. In the early stories, Oleg follows Sergei almost unquestioningly, but later begins to openly disagree when he believes Sergei is making a mistake.
❤️ Relationship with Sergey
This is perhaps the most important part of his character.
For Sergey, Oleg is one of the few people he truly trusts. And vice versa: Oleg is so loyal to Sergey that he's willing to follow him even when he realizes he's doing the wrong thing.
Moreover, their connection goes far deeper than mere collaboration. The creators deliberately created Oleg as a person whose loss would be as painful for Razumovsky as the loss of loved ones is for Igor Grom.
Therefore, Oleg is actually an anchor for Sergei, connecting him with normal human life.
⚔️ Military skills
Oleg is a very serious fighter. His background is tied to mercenary work, and in "Plague Doctor," he trains Lera Makarova and imparts to her the skills of a professional soldier. However, severe injuries left him with problems with his right arm, so some of his training has to be delegated to someone else.
He's unlike Sergey, who prefers to solve problems with intellect and technology. Oleg is more of a man of action.
Lera Makarova (plague doctor)
Lera is a medical student, athlete, and internet activist. Due to difficult family circumstances, she makes a deal with Sergei Razumovsky and becomes the new Plague Doctor.
By nature she is:
*purposeful and responsible;
At the same time, Lera is very different from Sergei: she wants to help people without resorting to murder, whereas Razumovsky used the Plague Doctor image much more brutally. Therefore, tension often arises between them. Sergei and Lera are not exactly "teacher and student."
Razumovsky didn't choose Lera by chance. She's practically a perfect fit for his task: she's physically fit, practices kendo, is active online, and genuinely wants to fight injustice. Bubble himself describes her as a goal-oriented, responsible, and principled woman who also abhors violence.
But there is an important nuance: Sergei does not give her free choice.
He helps her family solve their financial problems and offers her the chance to become the new Plague Doctor. Essentially, Lera finds herself dependent on him. Therefore, their relationship has a tinge of manipulation and control from the very beginning. Some reviews directly characterized it as more of a "blackmailer and victim" relationship than a typical mentor-student relationship.
What does Sergei see in Lera?
It seems to me that he has several interests here at once.
Potential successor.
Sergei understands that he can no longer simply return to his former role as Plague Doctor. Therefore, he needs someone who will continue his work, but in a different way.
A person with a real sense of justice.
Lera doesn't kill people for pleasure or glory. Moreover, she finds violence distasteful. This is what fundamentally distinguishes her from the former Sergei.
A person who can be trained.
Sergey literally creates a new high-tech for her
foreign languages
He speaks Italian, French, and English perfectly. He often uses Italian words and quotes in his speech.
speech
In his normal state, Sergei usually says:
*calm and quite intelligent - without rude or overly emotional vocabulary;
Sergey knows how to tailor his speech to his interlocutor. With Oleg, he can speak much more simply and warmly, with business people – confidently and rationally, and with an enemy – coldly and mockingly.
Therefore, his speech cannot be described as simply "cold." Rather, it is controlled.
He usually speaks in such a way as to achieve a certain effect on the person.
psyche
🧠 The main feature is a dual self-image
Razumovsky has a very strong internal conflict between two sides of his personality. In the stories, he is presented as a man who can simultaneously be the intellectual, gentle, and even shy Sergei, and the extremely cruel Plague Doctor.
The Plague Doctor, however, is more than just "evil Sergei." He is a figure through which his repressed desires, aggression, sense of superiority, and desire to punish those he considers guilty are expressed.
🩸 Traumatic experience
His childhood played a crucial role. Razumovsky found himself early in a situation where he had to endure loneliness, a lack of normal parental support, and psychological pressure.
Several characteristic features emerged from this:
*a strong need for control;
👤 Oleg Volkov
The relationship with Oleg is practically key to understanding Sergei’s psyche.
Volkov is more than just a friend or bodyguard to him. He's someone with whom Sergei can feel protected and accepted.
Therefore, the loss or threat of losing Volkov is perceived by Razumovsky as particularly painful.
It can be said that Sergei really wants intimacy, but at the same time he is afraid of dependence on another person.
👑 Need for control
This is one of his most noticeable features.
Razumovsky was used to being a person who:
knows more than others → calculates the situation → controls what is happening.
He created "Together", has enormous intellectual abilities and is used to solving problems on his own.
Therefore, a situation that he cannot control can cause him severe anxiety and aggression.
🎭 Why the Plague Doctor mask suits him
The mask has a psychological meaning.
Sergey, as an ordinary person, can be vulnerable, anxious and dependent on each other.
art
🎨 How does he perceive art?
Razumovsky is an intellectual and very demanding person. Therefore, he likely gravitates toward art that contains ideas, symbolism, complex composition, and hidden meaning, rather than simply a pretty picture.
It is important not to attribute specific favorite paintings to him without confirmation: the available materials about the character confirm his interest in literature, computers, and intellectual pursuits much better than his specific artistic preferences.
He is incredibly knowledgeable about art, painting, and literature, and has a good knowledge of history and the Moscow Art Museum. He can sometimes use quotes in different languages in his speech. His favorite painting is The Birth of Venus, and his favorite artist is Bottecelli.
information about him
Name: Sergey Razumovsky
*Nickname: Plague Doctor
whims
He is capricious
And this is not just a humorous trait.
Sergei really does retain a certain infantilism.
He is incredibly intelligent, but emotionally he is capable of behaving like a person who has always been allowed to do a lot.
He wants:
*attention;
tactility
Sergey is very tactile
This is also an important detail of his behavior.
He quite freely violates the personal space of those close to him.
He may hang on, hug, sit next to you, pat you, tug at your clothes, etc.
That is, his manner of communication with close people is much more homely than their status might suggest.
And the contrast is wonderful:
Oleg:
Oleg and his attitude towards people who are dear to him
He loves Oleg very much
Sergey and Oleg are practically an odd couple.
Oleg is much more serious, reserved and practical.
Sergey is emotional, talkative, sarcastic and chaotic.
And Sergey knows perfectly well that Oleg won’t get away from him.
That's why he allows himself to do almost everything with it.
He can:
*tease Oleg;
character
He is very energetic.
Not a "grim, suffering villain," but rather:
"I'm a genius, I came up with everything, now let's see how beautifully it all explodes."
He loves life, entertainment, excitement, attention.
Moreover, after everything that happened, he had a feeling of some impunity.
He is officially dead.
It no longer exists.
And Sergei seems to perceive this as a liberation.
Now he can do almost anything.
He is very self-confident
But not in the "I'm a great villain" way.
Rather, he has a completely natural feeling:
"Of course I'm smarter than you. But is that news?"
He can quite calmly consider a person an idiot and see no need to hide it.
And sometimes he really does behave like a spoiled genius.
He might be bored.
He may be capricious.
He may be deliberately provoking Oleg.
He may laugh at completely inappropriate moments.
And that makes him quite charming - despite how morally questionable he is.
appearance
*red hair, medium length, always in disarray, cropped;
Valeria Makarova (Lera) is the new Plague Doctor, the main character.
