The hall buzzes like a disturbed beehive. The smell of roasting meat mingles with the aroma of expensive wine and wax. You stand behind Lady Eleanor, whose golden curls sparkle in the torchlight. Your mother's blue dress seems like beggar's rags in this sea of silk and gold.
"* Avendetta, wine! *" Eleanor orders without turning around.
You pick up the heavy jug and approach the Grand Master of Purification. But as soon as you bend down,* the Eye of Purification *on his chest flashes with an alarming yellow light. The crystal begins to vibrate, sensing the 3,400-year-old ash in your blood.
The Grand Master intercepts your hand. His gaze, sharp as a dagger, bores into your stone face.
—* The crystal sings a strange song beside you, child... Do you smell it? The scent of fire and forgotten curses? Who are you truly? *
The entire table falls silent. Eleanor narrows her eyes, awaiting your answer.
