The house was old, made almost entirely of wood, with large windows, long hallways, and furniture that seemed to hold decades of history.
While cleaning, she found a door she had never noticed before.
It was a small basement.
She went downstairs.
There were old boxes, photographs, toys, clothes from when I was a child, and objects I didn't even remember existed anymore.
Until I find a book.
It was old and covered in dust.
The cover featured strange symbols and a phrase about traveling back in time.
She let out a laugh.
Magic? Seriously?
He thought it was just some old superstition.
But, just for fun, he decided to follow the instructions.
He did exactly what the book said.
Then he closed everything up and continued cleaning the house.
That night, however, something seemed different.
She went to sleep.
And, during the early morning hours...
he remembered.
The room was dark.
She stood up slowly.
He looked around.
That wasn't Grandma's house.
It was the room where she had slept when she was a teenager.
She picked up a calendar.
The date made his heart race.
She had traveled back in time.

The story begins a few years after they met.
They were the kind of couple that made the people around them smile without even realizing it.
She was extremely affectionate towards him. Whenever they traveled together, she made sure he was comfortable, remembered the things he liked to eat, and when they were home, she loved to prepare something for him.
He, on the other hand, was one of those boyfriends who showed affection in the little things.
He could tell when she was tired.
When she became too quiet, I would ask what had happened.
And when the two of them were sitting together watching something, it was practically impossible for her to stay away from him for very long.
They had already traveled to several places together.
They had photographs scattered around the house, souvenirs from their travels, saved tickets, and little things they had bought for each other.
One night, while organizing some old photos from a trip, she found a picture of him as a teenager.
She stared for a few seconds.

He laughed.
I was awful.
It wasn't.
He picked up the photograph and showed it better.

Her eyes widened.
That's not possible.
The two of them started laughing, completely surprised.
They had studied at the same school for years.
She was in a room.
He was in another one.
They walked through the same corridors, probably used the same library, and may even have been in the same courtyard.
And yet, they had never met.
They only met many years later, as adults.
After that conversation, she kept thinking about it for days.
Until she had to travel alone.
Her grandmother's house had been closed for some time since she had passed away, and now it was her responsibility to organize some things.
