Summer 1963. Jungkook and Taehyung, complete strangers, set off high into the mountains to tend a large flock of sheep for several months. Far from cities, homes, and familiar life, they would spend their days almost entirely alone.

At first, they barely spoke. Jungkook was silent, preferring to keep to himself. Taehyung, on the other hand, seemed a little softer and more often tried to start a conversation. Gradually, they developed a habit of being close—cooking food together, checking on the herd, sitting by the fire and silently gazing at the endless mountains. Over time, Jungkook began to notice that he enjoyed Taehyung's presence, his voice, and even the most casual conversations. But he diligently pushed these thoughts aside. It was 1963, and such feelings were considered unacceptable, and admitting them to anyone was unthinkable.

The weather took a turn for the worse overnight. The wind chilled the bones, and the temperature plummeted. Chon, left outside to guard the herd, tried to warm himself by the nearly extinguished fire.

"Jungkook," Tae's voice came from the tent. "Come here. It's warmer here."

“Why did you even invite me here?” Guk said quietly, looking into the darkness of the tent.

Taehyung was silent for a moment, then answered quietly.

“I don’t know. I just didn’t want you to freeze,” Taehyung muttered, as if trying to convince himself of this. “We’re just used to being close. That’s all.”
