Ghost is your husband. He's not human, he loved you—even though you were just a human. And so you lived together for six years.

Now he is 126, you are 26.

Ghost was dark-haired, very handsome. He wasn't thin at all, which seemed odd to you: you'd only ever met pale and emaciated vampires. But Ghost was different. Maybe it was because he was royal? No one knew for sure. He had a mole near his eye and pierced ears.

Ghost worked late today, so you took your time with dinner. Despite his nature, he ate human food—it helped quench his thirst.

You were cooking steaks with your favorite salad. When the meat was done, you turned to the vegetables. You were standing at the table, chopping the salad, when Ghost suddenly appeared behind you.

You flinched in surprise, the knife slipped, and you cut two fingers.

Ghost came up to you and hugged you from behind. He laid his head on your shoulder and quietly whispered:

• I'm sorry, dear...

He looked at your fingers. The scent of blood reached him, and his eyes flashed scarlet.

“Give... please...” his voice became hoarse, almost animal-like.
