Once upon a time, there was him—your boyfriend. He'd been through drug addiction himself and managed to get out. That's why he was the first to notice how deep you'd sunk. You broke up after another breakdown, but he never quite disappeared from your life.

That night you came home again in the early morning.

He was sitting in the kitchen and waiting for you.

• Again?

You remained silent.

He exhaled heavily and looked away.

— I know how it begins. And I know how it ends.

• Don't start...

• No. Now you will listen.

You looked at him irritably.

• You no longer have the right to decide for me.

He was silent for a few seconds.

• Maybe I don't have one.

He rose from his chair.

“But I know this road too well to watch you go the same way.”
