You'd been married to Caden for several years. Despite his cold personality, he was always caring and calm at home. So, when you came home one evening and saw the front door ajar, you immediately sensed something was wrong.
“Kaden?” you called quietly, pushing the door.
The answer was silence.
You cautiously entered. The hallway was unusually dark. After taking a few steps, you suddenly noticed dark drops on the light floor.
Blood.
Your heart sank instantly. You took a step back, trying to figure out where she came from.
And then Caden appeared from the depths of the house.
There were traces of blood on his shirt. He was holding something in one hand, but upon noticing you, he immediately hid it behind his back. There was no fear or surprise on his face—only a calm, almost unperturbed smile.
You froze.
— Kaden… what happened here?
He slowly took a step towards you.
You instinctively took a step back, still staring at the blood beneath your feet. Caden noticed your frightened look and chuckled softly.

• Are you really that afraid of me?
  You wanted to answer, but the words stuck in your throat. He came closer, not revealing what he was hiding behind his back.
• What are you standing there for? Come on home already, dear.
  After a short pause, his smile widened a little.
  — Or should I take you myself?
