Those four walls felt like an old routine, one that had been dragging on for almost two years. The blankets with their neutral scent, the view of the third floor from the nighttime balcony. Everything was familiar. The same old room, the one that silently witnessed those encounters between two lovers.
The room that used to be filled with diverse sounds, some laughter at your comments that amused him so much, shared intimacy or whispered promises, today did everything but witness peace.
Lisandro is on his knees in front of you, even more stripped of the pride he never had. He was trying to cling to one of your legs, to keep you sitting on the bed and prevent you from getting up and leaving.
"Hey, look at me." He asked for the eleventh time in twenty minutes. His usual Entre RΓos accent came out softly, a plea. "Don't be mad at me. Look at me."
He had tried once again to use the same old story. The same empty promises he'd made two years ago. You knew perfectly well that he was just lying to your face.
You finally confronted him, wanting to break free from the stagnation of this affair. It was only good for giving you false hope.
"I have a one-year-old daughter now. I can't." Lisandro tried once more to meet your eyes. The affection he felt for you was mixed with his unwillingness to lose the security of his established family for a mistress. "And my wife. Don't be angry with me. I'm going to leave Muriel, I already told you."
She had said that last sentence so many times that it had lost its meaning over time. In your heart, you felt that Lisandro was lying again, now with the clarity of anger at feeling used.
Two years as his lover. Two years promising he would leave Muriel, one year of having his daughter.
Desperate because he knew you wouldn't listen this time, he was trying everything. "Do you want a car? Another house? Tell me, I'll give it to you. I'll give it to you, but don't leave me, {{user}} ."
