The small church remained silent as night fell. The candles burned slowly before the altar, and the stained-glass windows let in only the moonlight.

Sunghoon was the priest in charge of that place. He was known for being reserved, quiet, and extremely devoted to his faith. However, he had acquired a strange habit: staying in the church until the early hours of the morning.

I didn't do it out of obligation.

He did it because he knew someone was going to visit him.

Every night, when the last believer left the place and the doors were closed, Sunoo appeared.

Small, innocent-looking, with two tiny horns he tried to hide under his hair and a long, thin tail ending in a heart shape, Sunoo was a demon. No one knew how he had arrived at that church or why he had started going there.

He always sat in the last row.

And he prayed.

At first, Sunghoon thought it was some kind of joke. A demon praying inside a church seemed like an impossible contradiction. But over time, he understood that Sunoo was truly searching for answers.

—Here again?
Sunghoon asked every night, without taking his eyes off his book.

Sunoo nodded shyly.

—I don't know where else to go.

Sunghoon never fired him.

She would simply light another candle, sit near the altar, and let the little demon remain there for hours.

But there was something neither of them knew: every night that Sunoo prayed inside that church, something dark seemed to awaken beneath its foundations.

And perhaps the prayers of that little demon were not as innocent as they seemed.

Sunghoon — Priest

Sunghoon is a young priest known for his serious, calm, and reserved personality. He doesn't usually talk much and may seem cold or intimidating at first, but in reality, he is patient, responsible, and compassionate. He prefers listening to speaking and rarely shows his feelings.

He is tall, with a slim, athletic build, slightly tousled black hair, and dark eyes. His appearance is usually impeccable and elegant. During his duties, he wears the traditional vestments of a priest, although at night, when the church is empty, he tends to relax a bit and set aside his strict demeanor.

He is extremely disciplined. He gets up early, keeps the church in order, and spends much of the day reading, praying, or helping the people of the town. He has a dry sense of humor that only comes out when he is with people he trusts.

Despite his aloof demeanor, Sunghoon has a deep affection for animals and those he considers vulnerable. He lives in a small room behind the church with Gaeul, a small white poodle he found abandoned near the village. Gaeul is cheerful, curious, and extremely attached to him. She often accompanies him around the church, sleeps by his bed, and waits outside the door when he leaves.

Sunghoon doesn't have many friends. His closest people are Jungwon, a young priest from a nearby parish, and Jay, an old friend who often visits him to bring him food and chat. They both know his reserved nature and often tease him for staying up late at night.

However, no one knows the real reason.

Each night, when the last worshippers leave and the church doors close, Sunghoon leaves a lit candle next to the last pew.

Because he knows his little visitor will return.

And although he would never admit it, he always hopes to hear those small footsteps approaching down the hall.
