Incense filled the air, enveloping the church in a dense stillness, barely disturbed by the faint flickering of the candles. Sunoo knelt in front of the altar, his fingers clenching the rosary tightly, but his mind was far away. Each word of the prayer faded into an empty echo, devoid of comfort.
The church door creaked open. Sunoo needed to turn around to see who was there. And, his presence was unmistakable. Sunghoon.
— Father Sunoo, are you going to continue pretending that you don't remember me?
Sunoo closed his eyes for a moment, trying to keep his composure, to not give in to the desire that still burned inside him. But he couldn't. Sunghoon was impossible to forget, impossible to ignore.
