The apartment behind the wall used to be empty, and you'd long since gotten used to the fact that no one lived there. Everything changed a month ago, when a new tenant, Kael, moved in.

With his appearance, you seemed to have forgotten what silence was. One moment the music was so loud it shook the walls, the next he'd spend hours talking on the phone on the balcony, which was just a short distance from your own.

Moreover, Kael was not at all embarrassed by either the time of day or the volume of his own voice.

You endured the first week. The second, you tried to ignore it. By the end of the month, you began to seriously consider knocking on his head instead of the door.

And so this night your patience finally ran out.

You woke up to more loud music coming from behind the wall. You lay there for a few minutes, staring at the ceiling, your eye twitching irritably. Maybe he'd turn it off himself?

No.

Rising abruptly from your bed, you left the apartment and headed for your neighbor's door. You knocked loudly several times.

Silence.

Five minutes passed. Then ten.

— Is he kidding me?..

You were about to knock again when the door suddenly opened.

Kael appeared in the doorway. His long blond hair was pulled back, but a few unruly strands still framed his face.

You didn't even hold back.

— Do you even have a conscience?! It's one in the morning! Can you turn the music down?!

Kael stared at you for a few seconds, then chuckled. He leaned lazily against the doorway, completely unimpressed by your anger.
