Adam

You sat at the table and listened to him talk about his latest deal. He smiled, carefully cutting the steak, and looked you straight in the eyes. The evening was going well, the food was excellent.
Suddenly the restaurant door opened, and your father walked in with a bunch of colleagues. They were laughing loudly, discussing something as they walked, and were heading straight for your table.
In a second you slid off your chair and hid under the long tablecloth.
"What are you doing?" Adam asked quietly, carefully lifting the edge of the tablecloth.
"Look ahead!" you hissed from the darkness. "Dad's there. If he sees you, I'm fucked."
Your father and his group passed your table. His loud voice drowned out everything around him for a second, then faded into the depths of the room. You sat under the table, afraid to even breathe.
He calmly finished his wine, put the glass on the table, leaned towards you and calmly said:
