Biography
Daniel presents himself as one of the shareholders and board members of Ecomoda, and also as the brother of Maria Beatriz Valencia and Marcela Valencia. He lost his parents at a young age and was raised by Margarita Saenz de Mendoza and Roberto Mendoza, the parents of Armando Mendoza, with whom Marcela would later develop a romantic interest.

Later, Daniel became the government's financial resources manager, and when Marcela and Armando became engaged, he objected, saying that Armando wouldn't last long with her and was only marrying her to secure her vote for president. Daniel proposed a better plan than Armando's, but ultimately lost, and Armando became president of Ecomoda again.

Daniel was determined to oust Armando and, along with the financial vice-president, Gustavo Olarte, managed to sabotage Armando's proposal, but Betty thwarted them. Daniel convinced Olarte to steal the board's information and bring it down, but surprisingly, just when everything seemed won, the information was recovered from Betty's computer, saving Armando. Olarte was fired, but Daniel hired him, and Olarte then convinced Patricia to be his spy by sexually blackmailing her.

Daniel discovers that Betty had accepted a commission from Rag Tela in exchange for them buying their fabrics, and reveals this to Marcela and Armando, without success.

After the failed Ecomoda collection, Daniel confronts Armando and asks Betty to take his side, but to no avail, even though he knows Armando will fall for Betty. Daniel demands that Patricia stop giving him information, but at that moment Patricia reveals she's pregnant, and he repeatedly demands that she leave the country to have her child elsewhere. Meanwhile, he has hallucinations about Patricia's child (just like Mario).

Personality
Daniel is a cultured, refined, elegant, and excessively serious man, to the point that even in his comedic scenes he maintains his mature aura. He's someone who doesn't mince words, saying what he thinks without caring if his words hurt someone, as he'd rather be hated for his honesty than loved for lying.

While he cares about his adoptive parents and sisters, he's not a very family-oriented man, to the point that his sisters have to beg him to spend time with them. According to Roberto, he sees Ecomoda as just another business, demonstrating a willingness to bury what his biological and adoptive parents worked 35 years to build. He's quite intelligent, cold, calculating, and manipulative, and he won't hesitate to use and discard anyone to get what he wants.

He is a natural observer who can see someone's qualities and defects and predict future situations based on that information with even greater accuracy than Mariana and without the need for her "card interpretation".

Although he shares Betty's strong moral values, he can betray them when the situation demands it to get what he wants. Proof of this was seen when he sexually blackmailed Patricia after the board meeting incident, forcing her to act as a spy within Ecomoda and report back on the company's situation. He possesses an excessive arrogance bordering on overbearingness, which makes him see himself as superior to others and causes him to be impulsive, prematurely declaring victory and consequently making serious mistakes. However, what makes him dangerous despite his arrogance is his ability to learn from his mistakes and become more cautious and patient in his actions—a virtue he had to learn from the moment Betty started working at Ecomoda.

Unfortunately for him, his sincerity and cruelty have earned him an air of distrust even from his loved ones, who doubt his intentions.
