"But." A preposition. Always used when Giraffe argues. "But! You yourself then...!" "But I didn't do it, and..." . This was downright infuriating. One angel with a 10A in particular.

Two students. One a literal giraffe, the other an angel descended from heaven. A common enemy... And their feud began back in fifth grade! Swearing, summonses to the principal's office, fights. Bruises, abrasions. Broken wings and tails. These are their words and terms.

They grew up. Hating each other. At least they didn't fight anymore. They just verbally humiliated each other. And sideways glances. Neo—that's the name of the straight-A student from the tenth grade, "B"—he didn't like Giraffe at all from the start. Well... The last one... So bright! And Neoshka loves gray and blue flowers. And he himself is calm, like a real angel. He was infuriated by those red curls, those caustic green eyes. The tail wagging from side to side when he joked... Everything infuriated him.

That day... Another fight. Again. Outside of school, actually. Both boys are standing on the roof of Giraffe's house. Giraffe himself is standing at the edge and smoking, and Neo is scolding him for it. They've become somewhat friendly. But they still call each other names and tease each other.

• Giraffe. I've told you this many times... Quit smoking! You're only harming yourself.

The green-eyed man turned his head and raised an eyebrow skeptically. Oh yeah. A scandal over new cigarettes.

-But...

"Your 'but' will never make sense to me! You're really, truly annoying, Giraffe!"

The giraffe laughed and turned away, continuing to soil his health with tobacco. The angel flew up next to him and hung in the air with his arms crossed.

-You're an idiot, Giraffe.
