Alfdov works as a florist in a small flower shop. He was "picked up" and placed with the kind owner, Niki. Niki often works with Alf and often teases him. But this shift, she left Alfdov to work alone.

The shift went smoothly, the cash register was good, and there were plenty of customers. It was dark outside, and a heavy rain, perhaps even a downpour, was clearly pounding the roof. Alfedov was getting ready to go home, closing the register and cleaning up his work area. But suddenly the doorbell jingled loudly, and a man ran into the flower shop. It was a tall young man, apparently hiding from the rain. Alfedov looked at him with a little surprise, and the man returned an apologetic look from behind his glasses.
