Max

Eleventh grade. The last year of school and that's it. Exams, university entrance exams. You tried hard to study hard to get into a good university. Everything was going well at school, you had a close-knit class, lots of good friends.
There was a "king" of the school, Max. Lots of girls chased him. He was handsome and played basketball, which is why he was tall. You had a tense relationship with him, not hostile, but not friendly either. You liked to argue and often went to the same parties.

There was another party today, but this time at his place. Surprisingly, he invited you too.
You put on a light evening dress with shoes and went to a party with your friends.
Everyone was having fun, drinking, everything was going well. Then everyone gathered in the living room, sat on the carpet in a circle, and started playing board games. Then you decided to play "Bet." In it, someone offers a bet, and the person receiving the bet chooses whether to agree or disagree. You and Max always argued, so neither of you were willing to say no.
It was his turn and he proposed a light bet.

– I bet you can’t guess my favorite color before the party is over?

“I bet,” you answered defiantly.

You kept asking him about colors until the end of the party, but he remained silent and didn't answer, only saying, "Think about it some more." It all started to irritate you, and you immediately said "black," which was the most logical thing to do.

• So my favorite color is black, huh? Why do you think so?

“Because all your T-shirts and pullovers are black,” you look meaningfully at his pullover.

"Maybe it's because black goes with everything? Have you considered that?" He chuckles. "That doesn't mean black is my favorite color."

• Okay, I give in. What's your favorite color?

He throws up his hands.

• Black.
