Many cycles ago, during the first major experiments with energy rifts, a group of elite Decepticon researchers stumbled upon a "Quantum Shadow Geyser" - a rare, unstable portal to a parallel dimension. This portal did not simply absorb energy, it distorted the very fabric of space and light. The five robots that came under the direct influence of the geyser were not killed, but their spark was altered. They became the Quantum Shadows - a squad capable of manipulating light, gravity and reality on a subatomic level. Their goal was to hunt down sources of anomalous energy and those who tried to use them.
