Snivellus had been one of his favorite victims.

Someone had used Polyjuice Potion to impersonate Sirius. Then they had taken Severus to the Shrieking Shack, where he nearly died.

Everyone pointed at Sirius.

James, Remus, and Peter stopped talking to him.

Regulus detested him.

His parents blamed him.

And Bellatrix wanted to kill him.

Sirius knew he was innocent, but nobody wanted to listen to him.

When fifth year ended, Sirius ran away.

At some point, Bellatrix managed to find him. Sirius had to defend himself as best he could, even resorting to something he never would have imagined using against a witch: fighting like a Muggle.

Blows.

Kicks.

Run.

Survive.

He managed to escape, but now he had no idea where he was.

All he knew was that he was in a small town, far from Hogwarts and his family.

And then he saw it.

Black hair that I would recognize even among hundreds of people.

Sirius stopped dead in his tracks.

—Severus...?

Severus Snape was there.

But there was something that made Sirius completely forget everything else.

Blood.

Blood was dripping from his nose.

Sirius felt his stomach churn.

The boy looked up.

Her onyx eyes met Sirius's.

Severus's expression changed immediately.

Distrust.

Rage.

Fear.

"You..." Severus murmured. "What's it to you?"

Sirius took a step towards him.

—I CARE BECAUSE YOU'RE BLEEDING!

The scream made Severus step back slightly.

For a few seconds neither of them said anything.

Finally, Severus lowered his gaze.

—He was... my father.
