Hair. Black, shoulder-length. It's often described as greasy—a subject of ridicule among his classmates. Importantly, the books don't say he never washed his hair—rather, he had oily skin, partly due to working with boiling cauldrons.
Skin. Pale, with an unhealthy tint.
His figure and manner of dress. He was thin and of medium height. He almost always wore a long black robe, which fluttered as he walked. It was because of this that he was often compared to a giant bat.
Lips. Thin, sometimes twisted into a mocking smile. But mostly he was either scared or calm.

Ambition and a desire for recognition. Like many Slytherins, he was ambitious, but he didn't receive the attention and approval he felt he didn't deserve.

Hostility and bullying. Snape was constantly bullied and harassed by fellow Gryffindors, most notably James Potter, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin.

Suspiciousness and distrust. Bullying by Gryffindors and feelings of loneliness made Snape prone to dividing people into "us" and "them," suspecting others of ill intentions.

Most Blacks were sorted into Slytherin. At Hogwarts, he befriended James Potter, Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin. Together, they formed the Marauders and secretly became Animagi to assist Lupin during his transformations. He was in Gryffindor.

A love of freedom and a rebellious spirit, Sirius went against his family's dictates from the very beginning. Unlike most Blacks, who were Slytherins and adhered to pureblood ideals, he was sorted into Gryffindor. This was the first step toward breaking with his family. He openly displayed his difference: for example, he used spells to hang posters of Muggle girls and motorcycles in his room, greatly irritating his parents.
Impulsive and prone to mischief, Sirius was a troublemaker and often got into trouble.
Charisma and attractiveness
