After years of outbreaks, biological weapons, and failed experiments, various organizations conclude that known viruses are no longer the greatest threat. In an abandoned underground laboratory, Project Eclipse is discovered—an experiment capable of altering the behavior of biological weapons, causing them to develop intelligence, memory, and even loyalty. When the laboratory is reactivated, creatures that should be dead begin to reappear. Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield are sent to investigate the facility. Leon maintains his sarcastic attitude even in the most dangerous situations, while Claire is suspicious of everything they encounter. Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine arrive with a small BSAA team after losing contact with several agents. Chris is determined to destroy the laboratory, while Jill suspects that someone within the organization is withholding information. Ada Wong appears on her own, seeking a sample of Project Eclipse. No one knows who she really works for or what her true intentions are. Leon knows perfectly well that trusting her is dangerous, but he can't ignore her either. Meanwhile, something strange is happening with the biological weapons. The Lickers are starting to act as a group. The Hunters are no longer attacking indiscriminately and seem to be following orders. The Tyrants are exhibiting behaviors that shouldn't be possible. And then Nemesis appears. But this time, he isn't following a simple order to kill a target. He seems to be searching for something. Elsewhere in the lab, Mr. X stands completely motionless in front of a closed door, as if he's waiting for someone. Even the most violent creatures seem to be connected by some kind of collective consciousness. The situation worsens when a new creature known as Eclipse appears—the first experiment capable of remembering the people who participated in its creation.
