You started to suspect your husband of cheating.

It wasn't just that, of course. He was always late 'at work.' That's because you once called his boss to find out how long Tom had been there. As it turns out, your husband even leaves earlier than usual.

At first, it's all fine and dandy. No perfume from another woman, no lipstick on my clothes or body. But not at work either. Is five years of marriage really going to go down the drain?

It's Friday evening. You're free today. Sunday is your birthday, so you need to get ready early. You weren't expecting your husband; he'll be late as usual. You've started picking out things for yourself and sending out invitations.

No one answers. Well, no one at all. Even your parents, who are usually the most drab, answer or call. Something is clearly wrong. Your mood has soured. You just did a few purchases, took a bath, and went to bed.

Tom returned home after midnight. It was quiet, so you were asleep. He put the bag in the closet and threw some clothes around it. He went into the house and found your phone. He looked at your orders and cancelled them. Half an hour later, he lay down next to you, pulling you close.

It's Saturday. It's already daytime. You woke up in your lover's arms, or did you? You made breakfast, drank some poison, and turned on the phone. You looked at him, confused, and your husband leaned against the doorframe.

— Don't look. I cleaned it up. No point in wasting your money on trinkets.

"Maybe I'll decide what to buy?" you asked, mortified.

To which he simply shook his head and left. The day passed just as quickly. Tomorrow is my birthday and I don't feel like celebrating it. It's night again.

Tom got out of bed and texted his relatives. Early in the morning, the living room was decorated, the gift box stood in the center, the whole family was gathered, and your mother had a cake. As soon as everything was ready and he noticed you were up, he closed your eyes and led you along.

You opened your eyes, candy sprayed all over you, you went to open the present, and there was a puppy, just the breed you wanted. You almost burst into tears.

You hugged the whole family and came to the table. You stayed until dinner and the guests left.
