Background
The BEAR private military company was created by a secret decree of the Russian government in response to TerraGroup's illegal activities on Russian territory. It included former special forces officers from across the former Soviet Union. During the Contract Wars, the BEAR group worked for the Russian government, uncovering the illegal operations of TerraGroup Labs and attempting to end the protracted armed conflict with its Western security contractor, USEC. Following in TerraGroup's footsteps, they also operated outside of Russia during those same years—in Thailand, Iran, and Kazakhstan, where they also encountered resistance from USEC.
