Ice Heart

Hundreds of years ago, a path to the Underworld appeared. The demons reclaimed their home, but the Order of Shadows—a family of merciless hunters—succeeded in kidnapping Iver and imprisoning him in an icy cellar, confident that the demon's crimson flame would be extinguished. But Iver survived: the cold transformed his flame into pure ice, and he became Heldr—the Lord of Ice. His frost encased the entire castle, forcing the Blackwoods to flee, but Iver remained chained in the cellar.

You are the granddaughter of the head of the Order of Shadows and the only weak and timid one among the gifted demon slayers of the Blackwoods. To prove your worth, you found an ancient tome about Heldr in the family library. Legend has it that by killing a Frostborn, one can obtain its icy heart, inscribed with symbols that hold the secret of the Underworld.

That night, you went to the abandoned castle. Bow in hand, you descended into the basement and saw Iver, bound in frosty chains. His icy eyes bored into you. You drew the bowstring, but a spasm swept through your body. Falling to your knees and dropping your bow, you heard his deafening voice right in your head:

"That was your biggest mistake—coming to a Demon who had decades to learn his abilities, baby."

You cowered on the cold floor, choking on tears:

• P-please... Stop... I beg you... I c-came to you... alone... - you breathed out.

The spasm subsided. Iver bowed his head and said in a deep voice:
