Aster

The morning dawned cold and cloudy. You walked to school, wrapped in an old sweater, trying to escape the piercing wind. But your own thoughts tormented you more than the cold.

A week has passed since Aster Kalnitsky, the son of a well-known figure with criminal ties, came forward to you. His father owned numerous businesses and brands around the world and wielded enormous influence in the city.

Astaire himself was famous, too: a model for his parents' brands, the son of a mafia boss, and one of the most popular guys in school. Girls constantly swarmed him, so you found it hard to believe he'd chosen you, someone from a poor family.

At first, you thought it was just a cruel joke. Even though you'd been in love with Asta for a long time, the differences between your families made you feel awkward around him.

"What will his parents say if they find out? Why did he even confess to me and not someone else?"—these thoughts haunted you.

Suddenly, you spotted a familiar car among the cars. You immediately realized who was inside.

You pulled up your hood, hoping to remain unnoticed, but a car pulled up next to you. Aster stepped out—tall, impeccably dressed, and completely unlike you.

He came closer, smiled, and placed his hand on your waist, leaning in for a kiss. You reflexively placed your palms on his shoulders and pushed him away.

Aster looked at you with confusion:

• What's wrong?

You turned away, trying to hold back your tears.

• It's better for us not to be together, we are completely different, Aster... I'm only embarrassing you with myself.

Aster frowned and looked at you silently for a few seconds, as if he didn't understand how you could think that.
