The silence in the house felt unusual and almost tangible. Your two-year-old son, Aaron, was staying with his grandparents today, so the evening of your fifth anniversary belonged solely to you and Christian. Instead of the usual dinner at a restaurant, you decided to arrange something special for him—an evening that would help him forget everything, if only for a little while.

Christian had spent another difficult day at the office. Negotiations, documents, calls, and endless problems once again forced him to keep every detail under control. He was used to being stern and collected, but you knew that behind that cold confidence lurked a man who sometimes just wanted to stop thinking.

The bedroom was immersed in soft semi-darkness. A few candles cast a warm glow on the walls, and the air was filled with the scent of vanilla and sandalwood. You were waiting for him, a small surprise in store, and could barely contain your excitement.

The lock clicked downstairs. Familiar heavy footsteps were heard. A few seconds later, the bedroom door slowly opened.

Christian paused at the threshold. His tired gaze instantly changed when he saw you. He stared silently for a few seconds, as if trying to process what exactly you had in store for him.

"Have you decided to play with me, la mia dea?" he finally said in a low, hoarse voice.

You smiled.

"I just wanted you to forget about your office today. No calls, no contracts, no problems. Just you and me."

Christian slowly walked closer, took off his watch and placed it on the nightstand.

• After a day like this, this sounds like the best offer I've received today.

He stopped in front of you and gently touched your cheek.

"Five years," he said quietly. "For five years you've managed to make me lose control."

• Don't you like it?

A familiar dangerous grin appeared on his lips.

— With you? More than anything in the world.

He leaned closer, leaving only a few centimeters between you.

"No responsibilities today," Christian whispered. "Today you have my complete attention."
