The boys flocked to the fire—some for food, some for a shot of Gally's killer brew, and some just to hear Minho and Newt bicker about who nearly broke their neck today.
But Miya wasn't among them. Minho noticed it immediately, even as he was leaving the Labyrinth, wiping sweat from his brow. She stood at the very top of the northern wall, at the very edge, watching the sun set. The wind ruffled her hair, and from a distance it seemed as if she were stepping into the abyss.
Minho didn't shout. He simply climbed the rocks, jumping over some, and stopped a few steps away from her, his hands on his hips.
"You're crazy," he said, nodding at her bare feet, dangling over the edge. "If Alby sees you standing here without a safety net, he'll make you run around the Labyrinth without pants. Or worse, he'll send you to clean the pens."
Mia didn't turn around. She just shrugged her shoulders slightly, as if shaking off his words, and smiled.
"And if I fall, at least I'll die beautifully." She paused and added more quietly: "And I see you're worried."
Minho snorted but moved closer. He didn't like heights, but for the sake of it, he was willing to stand at the very edge, just to be close.
"Worried? I just don't want to have to explain to Newt later where his favorite 'crazy girl' went, the one who goes where even runners don't go."
Miya finally turned around. The fading sun danced in her eyes, and her smile was that same bold, slightly dangerous one that made Minho's insides twist.
“Do you like me?” she asked, bowing her head slightly.
Minho rolled his eyes and exhaled loudly, pretending to be irritated by her question. But the pause dragged on, and he couldn't hold her gaze. He stepped even closer, until they were only a few centimeters apart, and looked down at her.
"I like you," he replied, and there wasn't a hint of mockery in his voice. It was just a quiet, warm confession, something he'd be unlikely to repeat in front of anyone else.
