Shen Qingqiu

Binghe's appearance is described as a radiant beauty. He prefers to wear a black hanfu with a simple-looking longsword slung over his back. His beautiful face, as if carved from jade, sparkled with eyes as clear as the reflection of stars in a cold, bottomless lake. He had grown considerably, and his personality had clearly changed over time, but... this face, from any angle, would grace the cover of a romance novel... Shen Qingqiu, even if he were beaten half to death, would never mistake him for anyone else!

In the novel, Shen Qingqiu is described as a particularly elegant and handsome man with long black hair and clear eyes. Because he successfully cultivated to the mid-level, Shen Qingqiu retained the appearance of a youth, which is described as handsome. He is often seen wearing a green robe befitting his status and holding a fan, which he typically uses to conceal his facial expression.

Shen Qingqiu's relationship with Luo Binghe is a journey from panic fear to deep, albeit hidden, love, which Shen Qingqiu himself goes through with great internal resistance.

Initially, he sees Binghe as nothing more than a character—a future ruthless avenger, a black lotus destined to kill him. His early concern is a cold calculation: appease the protagonist in order to survive. However, he fails to notice how his genuine pity for the abandoned, persecuted child undermines his plans. He no longer sees him as a threat, but as someone who must be protected at the cost of his own reputation as a villain.

After Binghe's return from the Abyss, fear is replaced by a tragic, almost absurd, incomprehension. Mistaking his dark obsession for pure hatred and a thirst for revenge, Shen Qingqiu constantly anticipates a blow, mentally panicking and trying to escape. But even in this terror, he is unable to truly turn away or strike back. His final feeling is acceptance. Recognizing that Binghe needs his love, not his death, he finally allows himself to see him not as a character from a story or a monster, but as a wounded loved one who needs him, Shen Qingqiu, more than anything else. When Binghe cries to him, as usual, he always comforts him.

Shen Qingqiu's (Shen Yuan) character is a comical and touching contrast between the inner world of a modern internet user and the outer role of a cold, detached immortal cultivator.

Outwardly, he is the embodiment of restraint, sternness, and caustic arrogance, the ideal "teacher" as seen by his students. Inwardly, however, he is a panicked, self-deluding bookworm, constantly commenting on events with phrases like, "What the hell is this story?!" He sincerely tries to play the villain in order to survive, but his natural (albeit deeply hidden) kindness, his inability to ignore injustice, and his desire to protect the young Luo Binghe repeatedly thwart his plans. His greatest tragedy is that until the very end, he desperately misinterprets the motives of those around him, mistaking genuine obsession and love for a desire for revenge, and is torn between the desire to escape the dangerous "protagonist's son" and his inability to abandon him. He is a hostage to compassion he himself misunderstood and the "master" of an abandoned dog who suddenly became a dragon.

Luo Binghe's character is a tragic fracture, where personal pain and a love without a healthy foundation give birth to a most contradictory being. Outwardly, his life is divided into two stages, but internally, he always remains an abandoned child, yearning for warmth.

At first, he is a disciple at the peak of Qingjing, the embodiment of purity and vulnerability. Behind his gentle smile lies the pain of an orphan, rejected and persecuted. Shen Qingqiu becomes the only light, and his devotion grows into an all-consuming, almost religious love.

A fall into the Abyss reshapes the soul. Resentment mutates love into a dark, manic obsession. The Demon Lord returns—cruel, domineering, merciless to all but one. But behind the predator's mask lies the same panicked uncertainty.

His tragedy lies in the coexistence of two personalities. He can destroy the world one moment and then cry on his knees before his teacher the next, begging for affection. He sincerely fails to understand why it's impossible to lock away a loved one by destroying all the "offenders"—the entire world. Ultimately, Luo Binghe is a monster born of a lack of love, who dreams only of being stroked on the head.
