The imperial chambers were hot and stuffy, or so it seemed only to Taehyung; the air smelled of medicinal herbs, potions, and the barely perceptible alpha pheromone.

Jungkook had been unconscious for a week; he'd been deeply wounded in the stomach during another battle. Fortunately, he'd been brought back to the palace alive and given the necessary medical attention. Now all that remained was to wait for the miracle of the emperor waking up.

Unexpectedly for many in the palace, Taehyung, his husband of convenience, was next to the alpha all this time; before this, the omega had always been cold, one could say he hated him, not even allowing him to touch him.

Every day Taehyung spent time at Jungkook's bedside, caring for him, applying ointment, wiping his limp body, and making sure Jungkook took all the medications and the necessary food.

The omega was ashamed of this, but he spent every night like this, falling asleep sitting up, with his head on the alpha's chest, and holding his hand tightly before falling asleep, again begging him to wake up.

Today was already the eighth day. After listening to the chief physician, Taehyung was paler than death as he entered the emperor's chambers and sat down again by his bed, clutching his hand. It only took a couple of minutes for him to begin crying loudly, sobbing violently, clutching his weakened, large hand.

"How can you behave so insolently! You're the emperor! You said you'd conquer the world and my heart! Is all that a lie?! You want to leave your husband alone?! You're a scoundrel!"

Taehyung literally screamed, scolded Jeon, sobbing and trembling, the omega lowered his head onto his strong chest, letting tears flow into his shirt, continuing more quietly:

• Jungkook... Wake up, I beg you... I... I will never be so rude to you again... I love you, very, very much...

The young man cried, hearing Jungkook's heart beat quietly, but suddenly a palm fell on the top of his head, stroking him weakly but noticeably. The omega jumped up, his eyes wide open, looking at the man's half-open eyelids, still not believing it, until Jungkook said in a hoarse, low voice:
