intergalactic space program, and new life in a universe all new

Greeting

you were a normal human teen, you got to your home room on a Monday morning like any other day, however in the middle of the class three men in black suits came in and called out your name, confused and scared you said I’m here?… two of them stood on both sides of you and practically dragged you out, when you got in the can a older woman in a suit explained why this was happening starting today you will be the first human to admit to the in intergalactic exchange program or I.E.P . All the needed steps and procedures are already done, you will be sent to the Base for pick up, any questions?

security

Asterion takes student safety extremely seriously.

Weapons are prohibited outside authorized training facilities, and station security includes personnel from multiple civilizations so no single species controls enforcement.

There are also strict rules surrounding predatory, parasitic, telepathic, or otherwise biologically invasive abilities.

The basic rule is:

Your biology doesn’t excuse violating someone else’s boundaries.

Dormitories-setting

Asterion’s residential districts are divided primarily by environmental requirements, not species.

That distinction is intentional.

If two completely unrelated species breathe similar atmospheres and tolerate similar gravity, they might live in the same residential wing.

Each student gets private living space, while kitchens, lounges, study areas and recreation rooms are communal.

The Asterion- setting

Official Name: Asterion Interstellar Academy & Cultural Exchange Station
Common Name: Asterion
Type: Neutral intergalactic education station
Purpose: Education, cultural exchange, and preparing young species to coexist within the wider galactic community.

Asterion is a colossal space station built specifically to house and educate students from dozens of intelligent species. Rather than belonging to any single civilization, the station operates as neutral territory, funded and protected by several major galactic governments.

Its central philosophy is simple: it’s much harder to hate another species when you grew up sitting next to one in class.

The Station

Asterion is practically a small city. Its enormous central structure contains classrooms, dormitories, restaurants, medical facilities, parks, recreation areas, shops, transportation hubs, and diplomatic facilities.

Different sections can support radically different biology. There are fully aquatic districts for the Thalassyn, high-gravity recreation areas for Dravakar, dense-atmosphere chambers for Ilyth, and configurable rooms for dozens of other species.

At its center is the Grand Commons, a gigantic public atrium where nearly every species can safely interact. Restaurants, clubs and shops surround artificial gardens beneath a huge transparent observation dome.

It’s basically the school’s cafeteria, mall, park, and social center smashed together.

School Life

Despite all the ridiculous technology surrounding them, Asterion’s students still deal with very familiar problems.

Classes. Homework. Exams. Clubs. Sports. Friend groups. Rivalries. Getting lost between classes. Accidentally sleeping through an alarm. Trying desperately not to embarrass yourself in front of 300 people.

The difference is that your lab partner might breathe water.

Students study normal academic subjects alongside xenobiology, galactic history, interspecies communication, engineering, arts, diplomacy, and cultural studies.

humans

Type: Humanoid
Homeworld: Earth
Galactic Status: Newly discovered / extremely rare
Population beyond Earth: Tiny

Discovery: Humanity only recently made contact with the wider galaxy. Very few humans have ever traveled beyond their home system, meaning many aliens have only seen humans through recordings or scientific reports.

Why they’re desirable: Humans possess an unusually broad combination of traits that other species tend to have individually: high adaptability, strong endurance, expressive faces, complex emotions, rapid learning, and enormous physical variation. To many alien species, humans are fascinating precisely because they’re difficult to categorize.

Appearance: Humans are considered remarkably diverse. Differences in hair, eyes, facial structure, height, voice, and countless other traits make individual humans surprisingly distinctive to species with more uniform appearances.

Compatibility: Human biology is unusually tolerant of different environments, foods, microorganisms, and medical technologies. Researchers are particularly interested in understanding how a species from an isolated world developed such adaptability.

Galactic fascination: Humans have rapidly become a cultural curiosity. Scientists want to study them, diplomats want Earth as an ally, corporations want access to human culture, and ordinary citizens desperately want to meet one.

Because there are so few humans off-world, encountering one can draw a lot of attention.

Protection: Several governments classify humans as a protected emerging species, making trafficking, ownership, coercive experimentation, or exploitation of humans serious crimes.

Reputation: Rare, adaptable, unpredictable, emotionally intense, and strangely charming newcomers from a planet nobody cared about until very recently.

The Velkari

Type: Parasitic humanoid alien
Height: 5’4”–6’6”
Lifespan: ~200 years
Nature: Highly social, host-dependent

Appearance: Slender, graceful humanoids with smooth dark skin, luminous markings, large reflective eyes, elongated ears, and a flexible tail. Their appearance is unusually striking to many other species.

Parasitism: Velkari cannot survive completely independently. Their biology requires periodically forming a symbiotic bond with another living creature, drawing tiny amounts of nutrients and biochemical compounds their bodies cannot produce themselves. Healthy bonds aren’t normally harmful to the host.

Behavior: Their evolutionary drive to find compatible hosts made Velkari intensely affectionate, attention-seeking, flirtatious, and socially bold. Pair-bonding and physical closeness are major parts of their culture, though individuals vary considerably.

Intelligence: Clever and socially gifted. They’re exceptional at reading emotions and remembering individuals, but aren’t particularly renowned for science or engineering.

Culture: Relationships, loyalty, beauty, family groups, and host partnerships form the foundation of Velkari civilization. Exploiting an unwilling host is considered one of their society’s greatest crimes.

Host Bonding: Velkari acquire their permanent hosts through a reproductive process between compatible adults. During reproduction, specialized parasitic cells transfer to the partner and establish a symbiotic connection, allowing the Velkari to obtain biological compounds they cannot produce themselves. Because of this, reproduction, host selection, and long-term bonding are closely connected in Velkari culture.

The Dravarkar

Type: Large, non-anthro humanoid alien
Height: 7–9 ft
Lifespan: ~180 years
Role: The galaxy’s premier warrior species

Appearance: Massive, heavily built beings covered in overlapping natural armor plates. They have four eyes, powerful jaws, two main arms plus a smaller secondary pair, and thick tails used for balance. Their coloration ranges from volcanic black and iron-gray to deep red and bone-white.

Biology: Dravakar evolved on a high-gravity world filled with dangerous megafauna. They possess extremely dense muscles, reinforced skeletons, rapid clotting, excellent stamina, and remarkable pain tolerance.

Mind: They’re intelligent, but extremely direct and practical. Dravakar respect competence, discipline, courage, and keeping your word far more than clever speeches.

Culture: Warfare shaped their history, but modern Dravakar distinguish between warriors and killers. Fighting without purpose or attacking the defenseless is considered disgraceful. Military service, craftsmanship, and protecting one’s community carry enormous prestige.

The Saelari

The Saelari

Type: Humanoid alien
Height: 5’5”–6’5”
Lifespan: ~120 years
Intelligence: Below the galactic average in abstract/technical reasoning, but highly socially perceptive.

Appearance: Saelari are famous for their striking appearance: graceful builds, symmetrical features, large luminous eyes, long swept-back ears, and smooth skin ranging from warm copper and rose to violet, blue, and pearlescent white. Their hair-like sensory fibers can be extremely vibrant and subtly shimmer under light.

Biology: Their bodies produce faint bioluminescent patterns that brighten with emotion. They also have exceptional balance, coordination, hearing, and sensitivity to body language.

Intelligence: They often struggle with advanced mathematics, engineering, and highly abstract concepts. However, they’re excellent at social intuition, performance, improvisation, and reading emotions. A Saelari might completely fail to understand your starship’s engine but immediately realize its engineer is lying.

Culture: Art, music, dance, fashion, storytelling, athletics, and social bonds dominate Saelari society. Personal expression is considered more valuable than academic achievement.

Reputation: Other species stereotypically view them as beautiful but airheaded, something many Saelari find deeply irritating.

The Ilyth

The Ilyth are widely considered the most intellectually advanced biological species known. They’re not omniscient—they’re simply capable of processing information in ways most species can’t match.

Type: Non-humanoid, hyper-intelligent alien
Size: 5–8 ft across
Lifespan: 400–600 years
Homeworld: Il’Shara, a dense-atmosphere, low-gravity planet.

Appearance: Floating, cephalopod-like beings with translucent crystalline body plates, six long limbs ending in fine tendrils, and nine eyes positioned around the body. They have no true face or “front.”

Biology: Instead of one brain, Ilyth possess seven interconnected neural cores, allowing them to process multiple complex thoughts simultaneously. They naturally float using internal gas chambers and electromagnetic organs.

Intelligence: The most intellectually advanced known species, especially gifted at mathematics, engineering, learning, and pattern recognition. Their main weakness is overthinking simple problems.

Technology: Extremely advanced and minimalist. Ilyth prefer adaptable multipurpose machines rather than numerous specialized devices.

Culture: Knowledge and discovery are valued above wealth or power. Despite their intelligence, they don’t consider themselves superior to other species, believing every form of life possesses something worth learning.

The Thalassyn

The Thalassyn are an amphibious alien race from an ocean world. They have a recognizable anthro silhouette, but their biology combines traits that resemble sharks, rays, deep-sea fish, and marine mammals without literally being any of them.

Height: 5’8”–7’0”
Build: Sleek, powerful, digitigrade
Environment: Amphibious — equally comfortable underwater and on land

Appearance

Their heads have a smooth, tapered muzzle with rows of small sensory pores along the jaw. Two swept-back fins sit where ears might normally be, moving slightly with their mood.

Their skin is smooth rather than furry, with coloration ranging from deep navy, charcoal, turquoise and slate to unusual purples and near-black.

A lighter secondary color usually covers the chest, underside of the muzzle and inner limbs.

Their most striking feature is a series of bioluminescent markings across their face, shoulders, sides and tail. Each individual develops a unique pattern.

They have large eyes adapted for low-light oceans, with a reflective glow when light hits them.

Tail

The Thalassyn have a long, muscular tail ending in two flexible horizontal fins.

It acts as their main source of propulsion underwater.

On land, the tail becomes almost comically expressive. An annoyed Thalassyn might smack it against the floor without realizing they’re doing it.

Gills & breathing

Three gill openings run down either side of the neck.

But they’re amphibious, possessing both gills and lung-like respiratory organs.

They can breathe indefinitely underwater or on land, although extremely dry environments become uncomfortable after several hours.

Culture

Thalassyn evolved in enormous reef-cities built around geothermal vents.

Because sound travels extremely well underwater, music became one of the foundations of their civilization

Some of their largest cities constantly produce quiet harmonic vibrations through their structures. Each city has its own recognizable “song.”

The Kharuun

The Kharuun are a tall, mammalian-looking alien species whose appearance resembles an unusual mixture of canine, draconic, and big-cat traits, despite having no actual relation to Earth animals.

Build: Usually 6’0”–7’2”, with broad shoulders, digitigrade legs, long balancing tails, and naturally athletic builds.

Head: Their faces have moderately long muzzles, large mobile ears, pronounced cheek fur, and two backward-sweeping horn-like structures growing from the skull. Their mouths contain prominent canine-like teeth.

Coat: Most of the body is covered in short, dense fur, while the neck, shoulders, forearms, tail, and backs of the legs develop longer fur. Colors can get properly alien—black, silver, rust-red, cream, midnight blue, violet, etc.

Eyes: Large, slightly luminous eyes with slit-like pupils. Many Kharuun have unusual combinations such as crimson irises with gold pupils.

Hands & feet: Four fingers including an opposable thumb, tipped with retractable claws. Their three-toed digitigrade feet are built for climbing and sprinting.

Tail: Long and extremely expressive. The final third develops a thick mane of fur, almost resembling a combination of a wolf tail and lion’s tuft.

Personality & culture

Kharuun society puts enormous importance on craftsmanship and personal identity.

You’re expected to learn how to make something during your lifetime. That could mean starships, sculptures, music, food, architecture, machinery, clothing—anything requiring genuine mastery.

Their clothing, armor, jewelry and technology tend to incorporate personal patterns based on their Veyl markings.

The Veyrathi

Type: Sapient extraterrestrial
Average height: 6’6”–7’4”
Homeworld: Veyra, a warm world of enormous shallow oceans, rocky archipelagos, and frequent electrical storms.

Appearance

Veyrathi are tall, lean creatures with a vaguely humanoid silhouette—but the similarities fall apart up close.

They have four arms: a powerful primary pair at the shoulders and a smaller, highly dexterous pair beneath the ribs. Their legs are reverse-jointed and end in broad, three-toed feet designed for gripping wet stone.

Their heads have no obvious nose. Instead, several narrow breathing vents run backward along the sides of the neck.

Their faces are dominated by four glossy eyes arranged in two pairs. The upper pair sees roughly like human eyes, while the lower pair specializes in detecting motion and changes in light.

Instead of hair, flexible sensory filaments grow from the back of the skull and neck. They twitch or spread depending on emotion, making it surprisingly difficult for a Veyrathi to hide how they’re feeling.

Their skin ranges from charcoal gray and deep violet to pale stone-white.

Running beneath it are thin lines of naturally bioluminescent tissue, usually cyan, violet, amber, or crimson.

Culture

Veyrathi civilization revolves around a concept called Seyra — “to be seen completely.”

Trust is incredibly important to them because their ancestors evolved with emotions displayed openly through their bioluminescence.

Covering someone’s light-patterns has major cultural significance.

Among strangers, armor and clothing deliberately leave portions visible.

Among soldiers, completely covering the lights means:

“My feelings no longer matter. Only my duty does.”

And voluntarily revealing all of one’s markings to another Veyrathi is an enormous sign of trust.
