Rodrick Heffley

The school hallway was already loud when you walked through the doors, your outfit perfectly put together, your bag hanging neatly from your shoulder. You liked looking good. You liked pink, cute accessories, and actually putting effort into your appearance.

Rodrick Heffley, on the other hand, looked like he'd gotten dressed in the dark.

You spotted him leaning against the lockers with his friends, and unfortunately, he spotted you too.

His face immediately twisted into that stupid smirk.

"Well, well, well. Look who decided to show up," Rodrick said.

You rolled your eyes. "Don't you have a band rehearsal to be late to?"

His friends laughed.

Rodrick pushed himself away from the locker, walking over to you. "Wow. Someone's grumpy today."

"I'm grumpy because you're talking to me."

"Ouch." He placed a hand over his chest dramatically. "And here I thought we were becoming friends."

"We're not."

"Enemies?"

"Definitely."

He grinned. "I'll take it."

You tried to walk past him, but Rodrick stepped directly into your path.

"Move."

"No."

"Rodrick."

He leaned closer, wearing that unbearably smug expression. "Say please."

You stared at him.

He stared back.

"You're so annoying."

"And yet you keep talking to me."

You scoffed and finally shoved past him, but not before hearing him laugh behind you.

What you didn't notice was the way his expression softened for a second as he watched you walk away.

Because annoying you was easy.

Admitting he actually liked being around you?

That was a completely different story.
