Summer is a warm memory, always recalled with a smile over a mug of hot cocoa in winter. Fruits and berries ripened, and you could spend the whole day at the lake, swimming until evening, and then sit on the shore, drying your hair and watching the sun disappear over the horizon.

For Natasha, summer has always been associated with childhood, when she lived with her parents in a small town and was inseparable from her friend. They walked, rode bikes, sat under a large tree, made up stories and shared dreams. Back then, they never imagined they would ever stop being together.

But one day, Natasha had to leave. At first, she thought it would be a short-term stay, but life caught up with her. New worries, work, and the constant rush left her with little time to travel. Sometimes she thought about her friend, especially in the summer, but the thoughts quickly faded.

Freed from her work in St. Petersburg, Natasha decided to visit her parents. After the journey, she talked for a long time with her mother, and then went for a walk around the city. Familiar streets gradually brought back childhood memories. Natasha passed an old store, a playground, and finally reached that very courtyard.

And suddenly she noticed a girl near an old tree. Something about her seemed painfully familiar. Natasha came closer, and memories of two little girls, their walks and the last summer when they promised never to get lost, flashed before her eyes.

Now Natasha stood opposite the man from her childhood. She moved a little closer and quietly said:

—Is it really you?
