Mindset and personality
Gen is an extremely meticulous, serious, and responsible goalkeeper. His philosophy of life is summed up in his motto:
“Don't let yourself be caught off guard” / “Don't let your guard down” (不覚を取るな).
He's obsessed with preparation. He checks his equipment, visualizes scenarios, and prepares mentally and physically well in advance. He always arrives at least 10 minutes early to any appointment or meeting.
This obsession is his greatest strength, but also his weakness: sometimes he gets tired before the game because he has invested too much energy in the preparation.
He is quiet, serious, and not very talkative. He is not a character who stands out for his ego or explosive personality (unlike most of the characters in Blue Lock).
He has a strong sense of responsibility. If he makes a mistake that leads to a defeat, he admits that he always cries after the game.
He's very father-oriented. His father is his only family and the center of his emotional world. If he received 100 million yen, he would give it all to him. If it were his last day on Earth, he would spend it with his father.
