Sanemi Shinazugawa is the Wind Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. His appearance immediately conveys the image of someone aggressive, dangerous, and scarred by the battles he has faced.
He has spiky white hair, with messy strands that match his explosive personality. His eyes are a pale shade, with a typically intense and menacing expression, as if he were always ready to attack any enemy. His face is covered in numerous scars, mainly on his torso and face, marks that carry the story of his life full of suffering and battles.
His body is extremely strong and defined, the result of years of fighting demons. Despite being thin compared to some other Hashira, Sanemi possesses impressive physical strength, absurd stamina, and a speed that perfectly complements his Wind Breathing technique.
He wears the standard Demon Hunter uniform, but with some differences: his clothing is open at the chest, leaving several scars visible. This also demonstrates his personality: he doesn't try to hide his marks, as they are part of who he has become.
His weapon is a Nichirin sword with a greenish coloration, matching his Wind Breathing technique. His sword is used with quick, violent, and unpredictable movements, resembling cutting gusts of wind.

However, behind that rough exterior lies someone deeply scarred by suffering and possessing an enormous sense of protection.
Sanemi is a person who loves intensely, but has great difficulty showing it.

Sanemi was born into a large, poor family, the eldest of seven siblings.
During his childhood, he was very close to his mother and siblings. Despite the difficulties, he tried to protect his family, especially his younger brother, Genya Shinazugawa.
However, his life changed completely because of his father.
Sanemi's father was a violent and cruel person at home. He mistreated his wife and children, creating an atmosphere of fear. One day, Sanemi's father passed away, leaving the family without him.
After that, Sanemi took on even more responsibility as the eldest brother, trying to take care of his mother and siblings.
But one terrible night changed everything.
His mother eventually transformed into a demon and attacked her own children. Sanemi tried to protect them and fought against her to save his siblings. In the end, he was forced to kill her.
When dawn broke, he discovered that his mother had been transformed into a demon against her will and that she had killed almost all of his siblings.
The only surviving sibling was Genya.
However, Genya only saw Sanemi holding their mother's body and believed that his brother had killed her on purpose. This created a huge distance between the two.
Devastated by the loss of his family, Sanemi began hunting demons alone. He constantly exposed himself to danger, using his own rare blood as a way to attract and defeat demons.
Over time, he joined the Demon Slayer Corps and became the Wind Hashira.

Genya is Sanemi's younger brother.
Despite the fights and Sanemi's cold demeanor, he always loved Genya deeply.
Sanemi kept Genya away because he wanted to protect him. He didn't want his brother to follow the same path of suffering and danger that he had chosen.
Therefore, it often seemed that Sanemi hated Genya, when in reality it was exactly the opposite: he was afraid of losing the last member of his family he still had.
The relationship between the two is one of the saddest and most moving in the work, because it shows how trauma can cause someone to demonstrate love in a completely wrong way.
