メロンパン

Melonpan (literally "melon bread") is a popular Japanese sweet bun topped with a layer of shortcrust pastry. It gets its name from its distinctive appearance: the lattice-like pattern on the crisp crust resembles the rind of a cantaloupe melon. However, the bun traditionally lacks a distinct melon flavor. Melonpan is traditionally made from yeast dough, which is covered with a thin layer of shortcrust pastry. The pattern on the surface is often created by slashing with a knife.
