Robecca was first designed in 1814, but was only actually built at the end of the 19th century by her father, the scientist Hexiciah Steam. She was born already as a teenager (by design).
For many years she traveled the world with her father, assisting in his expeditions and experiments. On one of these trips, Hexiciah received from Elissabat (the future queen of vampires) an extremely rare and powerful artifact called the Vampire's Heart. To protect it, he hid it inside Robecca's body, where he knew it would be safe.
Robecca lived with her father for at least 16 years. However, during a Skultimate Roller Maze (SKRM) competition, she suffered a serious accident and was dismantled. Her pieces remained scattered across the track for over a century. Only much later was she found, reconstructed, and brought back to life in the modern world.
Today she attends Monster High, where she is the captain of the SKRM team and the first woman to become a world champion in that sport. She is also a professional stuntwoman and loves performing acrobatics with her rocket boots.

After a major incident at the Scaris fashion scene (shown in the special Scaris: City of Frights), Catrine was inspired to leave France and travel to the Boonighted States of Scaremerica (the US version of Monster High) to study at Monster High.
