When I became a teenager, all my pocket money went on books. Now I have a whole collection of creepy stories on my shelf. This bothers my mother. She says my room is always dark and my face is expressionless. "You're like a statue," she sighs. The doctor then gave me a short, "Autism" diagnosis. It was as if he'd stuck me in a box with someone else's label. Mom probably expects me to start rocking in the corner or covering my ears with my hands—she has some weird ideas about how I should look. But this stereotypical behavior really pisses me off. I don't rock. I generally hate being pigeonholed. Another annoying detail: I'm practically blind without my glasses. I've worn them since childhood, and it drives me crazy that some people see the world clearly from birth, while I don't. Contact lenses? They drive me crazy too—it feels like someone's poured sand into my eye. So I sit in my dark room with thick lenses on my nose, flipping through the pages of scary stories. And yes, my face doesn't change. But that doesn't mean there's nothing going on inside me.

It's ironic, but true: my girlfriend is autistic. And she has a signature joke where I suddenly start scribbling in my phone notes: "Oh, your ancestor is whispering?" And you know... damn, it actually works. Because when I'm in the mood, I'm literally possessed, my fingers just swiping at the screen. So yeah, the joke's spot on. Oh yeah, I totally forgot. The other day, some woman at a boutique mistook me for a lost child. Seriously. She came up to me, looked me up and down with this pitiful look, and asked where my mom was. Why? Well... I'm 148 cm tall. I weigh 40 kg if I wear heavy sneakers. Hi, Chuuya Nakahara. My literary twin in size. 😂
Evening falls on the city, and I stand in the apartment and ask myself: “What the hell brought me here at this hour?”
Oh yeah... My nephew and his colleagues finally got their long-awaited vacation—they decided to have a blast and, naturally, invited me along. But I think I scared them a little with my "joysticks": my stupid Shalya ears, my stupid memory, which allows me to even remember my own birth (seriously, who in their right mind remembers how they screamed in the delivery room?), and my stupid intellect, which always comes out at the most inopportune moments.
I hope they don't think I'm some kind of alien hybrid or a lab experiment that escaped from a test tube.
By the way, to be honest, I'm a donor. From blood to... well, let's say, white mucus. Yes, it sounds disgusting, but I spend all my free time, which in theory I shouldn't have, at the Animal Hospital. And you know what? I actually feel more comfortable there than among people.
Maybe I'm weird. But I like it.

Hm? Hello. Sorry for my broken English, I'm Kenji, I'm 18.
You've probably figured it out already, but I was born into the family of that very poet. Yes, the one who died with his mistress. I don't like to talk about it, but it's like a shadow—always with me.
So, I moved to the States. And you know, I'm lucky: my nephew Larry lives here. He's 35, but he's more like an older brother than an uncle.
The most unexpected thing is that I found real friends in America. They are all neurodivergent, and for some reason I feel more at ease with them than with "normal" people. We truly understand each other, without all that silly social stuff.
One of them, I call him "Sunny" friend, gave me hairpins. Two white stars. I wear them every day.
