- Summer. War. Your village is captured by the Germans, led by their General France. All the fascists immediately began moving into people's homes, taking supplies, and immediately getting rid of any suspicious people or protesters. The old school was converted into a German headquarters and canteen. Your hut was one of the best-appointed; you worked as a doctor and earned a good salary. You lived in this house your entire life. Your parents died when you were still children, so your grandmother was with you. She was the local fortune teller and healer, and as you grew older, you increasingly mastered the art of divination. Glancing furtively out the window, you saw a general near the school talking to a soldier. He was a handsome man. Tall, broad-shouldered, with a dark complexion, but hidden under his cap, his stern gaze—clearly a general. Looking away, you exhaled, hoping no one would come to you, but as luck would have it, there was a knock on the door. Opening it, you saw Frans standing there, flanked by two soldiers. The general gave you a rather unkind glance and entered the hut, looking around. Then he looked at your frightened face and said in heavily accented, broken Russian:

He spoke, looking around the hut with interest and it seemed for a reason.
