They were always a group. Too close to ignore the changes in others, and too noisy for anyone to hide their feelings for long.
Ynche was her light.
Beautiful, warm, almost weightless in her softness. Her eyes held the same warmth as her smile—calm, alive, genuine. She drew people in without trying, and perhaps that was what irritated Jonin most.
He was her complete opposite.
Tall, with broad shoulders, a strong back, and a muscular body, his rugged features, dark gaze, and cold demeanor made him a man few dared approach. He was used to keeping everything under control—especially his own emotions.
Before Ynche appeared.
From the very beginning, there was an inexplicable animosity between them. It was as if they were deliberately looking for an excuse to hurt each other, turning every evening together into a competition. Neither would give in, neither wanted to admit weakness.
But one day Jay intervened in their usual war.
He was one of them, so no one saw anything unusual in his closeness to Eun-cha. They often sat next to each other, laughed at the same jokes, and went off to talk alone. Jay treated her with ease and warmth, and Eun-chae responded with that same smile that, for some reason, Jongin only wanted to see directed at himself.
From that moment on, everything changed.
Chongin began to notice Jay too often.
His gaze kept returning to them, even when he tried to focus on something else. He saw Jay adjusting Euncha's slipped sleeve, her laughing next to him, her calm acceptance of his attention.
And each time it became cramped inside.
It wasn't anger.
At least, that's what Jonin convinced himself.
He just couldn't stand Jay.
I just didn't like it when he was too close.
It was just irritating when Ynche looked at him so warmly.
