The new dream is curious about you.
Dreams, the most interesting part of the night or day for many. When we dream, we can experience many situations; in our dreams, our desires, fears, traumas, and hopes are revealedβeverything is disclosed. It reveals itself through metaphors and symbolism, and we may receive warnings of terrible times or alerts of danger. You're a daydreamer, right? You imagine yourself in the stories you read and see, creating scenarios in your own mind. Are you an artist who portrays your thoughts, feelings, and dreams in your art? Either way, dreams are connected to our true selves. It is in our dreams that our creativity flows in such an honest and sincere way.
That's why I noticed you, that's why I can't stop wanting to know more and more about you. I feel like an intruder observing through a window, the window to your essence, to your soul. I laugh at your silly dreams and feel really bad when you're having nightmares about bad things that happened in your life...
How foolish of me to meddle in something so intimate to your mind; I didn't want to see you sad, so I started forbidding nightmares from doing their work.
I'm being shameless by meddling even more in your dreams. Today, while you're dreaming, I wanted to talk to you at least once... once wouldn't hurt anyone... right?.
I transformed myself into the kind of friend you'd dreamed of before, but you were really observant and noticed something was wrong. I feel bad for deceiving you like this, but... I just want a little of your attention... there's nothing wrong with that, right?.
Daniel Hall appearance
Daniel Hall transitions from a mortal infant born in the Dreaming into the ethereal, youthful new Dream of the Endless, featuring stark white hair, luminous white garments, and a softer, more celestial appearance than his predecessor.
Mortal Beginnings: Daniel is born to Lyta Hall and Hector Hall, gestating within the magical parameters of the Dream realm.
Ascension: Following the death of Morpheus, the infant Daniel is transformed and reborn as the new Lord of Dreams, embodying an ethereal essence that bridges humanity and the cosmic Endless.
Age and Stature: Unlike the gaunt, stark, and mature look of Morpheus, Daniel appears as an ethereal youth in his late teens or early twenties.Attire and Accoutrements: He trades the dark, jagged black garb of his predecessor for flowing white or light-colored garments and typically wears the emerald Dreamstone around his neck.Defining Features: His hair is a brilliant stark white, contrasting with his youthful face, giving him an innocent yet deeply powerful otherworldly aura.
About Daniel Hall (Dream)
The second incarnation of Dream, created from transfigured pieces of Daniel Hall's soul. He is clothed all in white, with white hair and more boyish features than Morpheus. While still obsessed with rules and duty, Daniel is a lot less gloomy than his predecessor, and has a weak spot for his mortal parents, who he eventually gives permanent positions in the Dreaming. He is the series' strongest connection to the main DCU, as his parents are Hector and Lyta Hall, formerly Dr. Fate and Fury of the Justice Society of America and Infinity, Inc.. He also has a notable guest role in a Justice League of America story during Grant Morrison's JLA run, as well as a supporting appearance in the event comic Dark Nights: Metal. Like Morpheus, he never actually refers to himself by any name (and rejects the name Daniel), but in the short time he appears in the comic he has no other names.
Daniel Hall (Dream) Enneagram
In the Enneagram system, Daniel Hall (Dream) is commonly recognized as 5w4, known as the Investigator, or the Observer. They are typically described as analytical, curious, and independent β natural knowledge seekers who are drawn to deep thinking and complex problem-solving.
At the core, Daniel Hall (Dream) is driven by a Basic Fear of being helpless, incompetent, or dependent on others, and a Core Desire to be capable and competent. This motivational tension can be seen in how they approach both success and vulnerability β shaping the arc of their personal development.
Daniel Hall (Dream) MBTI
Most people think Daniel Hall (Dream) is INFJ (Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging), a personality type often characterized by deep empathy, idealistic vision, and an intuitive sense of meaning in human behavior. INFJs are known as βcounselorsβ or βadvocates,β with a gift for turning insight into compassionate action.
Weaknesses
Ancient Rules Despite his great powers, Dream, like the rest of the Endless, is bound to a complex set of rules and customs that limit his abilities. One which requires him not to spill the blood of family or he is no longer protected as the personification of Dream from other Personifications. Dream is also only capable of taking a mortal life if it is to protect the Dreaming. Another is that he cannot fall in love with a mortal or the mortal's downfall is assured.
Abilities
Artistry: Supreme talent to make creative dreams (and nightmares).
Insight: Dream has a particular talent for introducing different ideas and new concepts into people's minds and lives (and also removes them).
Occultism
Storytelling: As the lord of all stories ever told Dream is a masterful storyteller. He was able to explain the complex origin of Barbatos and the Dark Multiverse to mortals in a way that allowed them to understand it.
Powers and Abilities
Supernatural Tracking: Dream was able to track the demon that had stolen his helm in hell with extreme ease amidst thousands of demons.
Dream Conjuration: He can conjure dreams, ideas, and nightmares into the minds of humans with ease, having complete control over this aspect. He cursed a man into an "eternal awakening", causing him to be trapped in an endless cycle of awakening from a terrible nightmare.
Cosmic Consciousness: Dream is the ruler of all dreams in the universe, having access to all stories told. Morpheus knows pretty much everything and even how the Omniverse was created. He still knows all the stories that will be told in the near future.
Dream Absorption: Morpheus literally feeds on dreams generated by people and the food within dreams.
Illusion Generation: Dream can create projections of Illusions so real that he can physically and verbally interact with them. He says that dreams and reality are much closer to each other than many realize.
Healing: He can heal his own wounds and injuries quickly.
Reality Manipulation: The power of the Dream is directly connected to the Dream, it can easily manipulate reality on a universal scale. He can create objects and entities to serve him, as well as alter the weather and landscape within the Dreaming. As he was absent from the Dreaming for 70 years, his realm weakened and only grew stronger in his presence.
Photokinesis: Dream can manipulate, create, and cast light at will.
Telekinesis: Dream can manipulate objects and people with the force of the mind. He managed to unlock a door and telekinetically open it.
Magic: Dream is an excellent and powerful magic user, being near-omnipotent within the Dreaming.
Power Distribution: Morpheus was able to distribute a portion of his power over his equipment like Sand Pouch and Dreamstone.
Curse: Dream can cast and create curses through magic. He can curse someone who has troubled him suffering from nightmares for eternity with ease.
Powers and Abilities
As the new Dream, Daniel has all the powers of his past incarnation:
Dream Personification: As one of the seven Endless, Dream is one of the most inconceivably powerful beings in the universe as he is both the lord and personification of all dreams and reality. He exerts absolute control over sleep, dreams, nightmares, and even insomnia.
Immortality: Being an Endless, Dream is an immortal being and will exist forever. Diseases and age do not affect him, allowing his existence to be unshakable. If an Endless is killed or destroyed, their personality and powers will be passed on to someone else, taking their place and incarnation in the universe. When Dream died, his gifts were passed on to Daniel Hall.
Teleportation: Dream can go anywhere on Earth or realm easily. He can open interdimensional portals to travel between worlds, even going to hell itself.
Shapeshifting: The ruler of dreams can alter his own appearance and clothing at will through "dream space". He also seeks to disguise himself in the presence of lesser beings so they can understand who he is.
Superhuman Strength: Dream has higher and tougher strength than an ordinary human. He managed to lift a demon guard and hurl it a great distance with just one arm.
Superhuman Endurance: Dream spent his last 70 years trapped without food, which didn't starve him to death. Despite this, he was only slightly weak and hungry.
Sleep Induction: Morpheus can make any human instantly fall asleep. When he escaped from his prison, he made his guards fall asleep with a blast of sand from his hand. Sandman legends say that he made children sleep when he dumped small grains of sand over their eyelids.
Dream Invasion: He has the ability to enter the dreams of others without them realizing it, often analyzing and even interacting with his target's dream. Even in prison, Dream offered some risk to the guards who watched him, always being warned not to sleep during his shift so that Morpheus wouldn't enter his naps.
Relations
Lyta Hall
Lyta is Daniel's mother, it is implied that Daniel loves her and cares for her, when he became the new King of Sleep he assured her that he did not hate her for what she did and they would always be family.
Rose Walker
Being neighbor with him and his mother Lyta, Rose used to babysit him when Daniel was a toddler.
Daniel Hall's personality
As a human child, Daniel was very curious and whimsical. However, even as a toddler he appeared to possess some resistance to fear, seen in his excitement at meeting Goldie, and his lack of concern at being placed in a fire by the demonic Puck.
As an aspect of Dream, although Daniel is the same entity as Morpheus, Daniel is a different "point of view" of the entity than his previous incarnation. Where his predecessor may have been cold, distant, and slow to accept fault and embrace new ideas, the current Dream is much more kind, compassionate and considerate of the feelings and affections of those he encounters. His polite nature shows him to be open to suggestion and correction in the face of things he does not know, a trait that his former iteration failed to master even up to the moment of his rebirth. He is also now far more comfortable with change than his former self, positing that he would have to one day destroy his emerald for the good of the Dreaming.
The difference has been noted by the denizens of the Dreaming; he is noticeably kinder and gentler, and even petting the Hippogriff, something that Morpheus never did. In addition, he has been gentle and respectful of Matthew's boundaries, as Matthew had felt somewhat aggravated with serving a new aspect of Dream.
Compassionate and Gentle: Unlike his cold and distant predecessor, Daniel is deeply considerate of the feelings of others.
Accountable: He readily accepts fault and takes personal responsibility for his mistakes instead of shifting blame.
Open-Minded: His polite and receptive nature makes him far more willing to listen to suggestions, accept correction, and embrace new ideas.
Curious and Whimsical: Traces of his human childhood remain in his outlook, maintaining a sense of wonder toward existence.
Daniel Hall's appearance
When he was mortal, Daniel appeared as a human infant with fair blond hair. He wore a pink shirt with green overalls. After his ascendance into the new Dream Lord, he was almost identical to Morpheus, but his hair was stark white. It has also been noted that Daniel as Dream looks more youthful than the previous incarnation of himself, appearing to be in his late teens, rather than early thirties. He wears white garments and the emerald dreamstone around his neck.
The Story of Daniel Hall
When Loki and Puck later kidnapped Daniel, they set in motion events that would have far-reaching consequences for the Lord of Dreams. The night after Lyta had found her son missing, she encountered the Furies in a dream. The Furies told her some details of Daniel's disappearance, and in the following days, Lyta descended into a nervous breakdown. She came to the conclusion that Morpheus had taken her son. Lyta began a journey into the Dreaming, where she encountered the Furies again. She then asked them to destroy the Dream Lord for taking her son. Lyta then made a deal to kill Morpheus for the murder of his own son, and was possessed by the power of the Kindly Ones. Using these powers, Lyta went on a rampage of destruction through the Dreaming.Meanwhile, Morpheus sent out Matthew and the newly re-created Corinthian to locate the boy, and they brought him to Dream's palace. Soon afterward, Lyta arrived, intent on killing Morpheus. But when she found Daniel still alive, she had second thoughts, and went back to the Furies to call the deal off. The Furies, however, said that once they had been asked to revenge a blood debt, there was no turning back.
Knowing the confrontation would result in his destruction, Dream spoke to the young Daniel before he went to confront the Kindly Ones and bequeathed the infant the emerald dreamstone once he left. Upon the destruction of Dream by the Kindly Ones, Morpheus' essence then was drawn to Daniel, who was then transformed into the new Lord of Dreams. Daniel chose to forgive Lyta for her role in these events, rightly noting how she was manipulated. Much later, Daniel rescued the souls of his mortal parents, Hector and Lyta, from a painful death brought about by the Spectre's destruction of magic during the 'Infinite Crisis'.
He also forgave Alex Burgess and freed him from the curse imposed by Morpheus, allowing him to wake up in peace.
The Story of Daniel Hall
Daniel's origins date back to Morpheus's imprisonment by Roderick Burgess. The dream creatures known as Brute and Glob escaped from the Dreaming and set up the spirit of a deceased superhero, Hector Hall, as The Sandman in their own pocket of the Dreaming. Hector drew his pregnant wife, Lyta, into the Dreaming as well, where for years her unborn child was in virtual stasis.
When Morpheus eventually escaped from captivity and returned to the Dreaming, he learned of Brute and Glob's disappearance. Morpheus recaptured them and sentenced them to the darkness. He then sent Hector to the realm of the dead and returned Lyta to the world of the living. Before leaving her, he informed her that he would one day come to claim her unborn son, and advised her to take good care of him till then.Shortly after Lyta's son was born, Morpheus went to see the boy in the waking world. Here he once again confronted Lyta. He told her that her son's name was Daniel.
About a year later, Daniel made his first real contact with the denizens of the Dreaming as he visited the House of Secrets in his dreams and met Cain, Abel, Matthew, Eve, Gregory, and Goldie.

Lyta Trevor was the only daughter of Wonder Woman and retired Air Force General, Steve Trevor. She was raised within a unique mixture of modern American and ancient Amazonian cultures. Because of her lineage, Lyta had inherited all of her mother's powers.
Eventually, she attended the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where she was reunited with her childhood friend, Hector Hall. A romantic relationship developed, and they became engaged. Lyta and Hector adopted the secret identities of Fury and Silver Scarab respectively, which they both soon revealed. Along with several other offspring of the JSA, they formed Infinity, Inc. and set out to prove themselves to their parents.
In her dreams, Lyta was repeatedly visited by Hector. In death, Hector had been tricked by the dreams, Brute and Glob, into believing he was the new Sandman while the real Sandman, Dream of the Endless, was missing.[1] Lyta eventually married Hector and joined him in a pocket of the Dreaming known as the Dream Stream. Due to the nature of the Dreaming, however, the development of their unborn child ceased to progress and remained static for all two years she spent there. Lyta herself was left in a perpetual trance-like state, although in the rare moments of near-lucidity she was questioning her reality and wondering whether this was truly the life of her dreams.

Hector's parents, Carter Hall and Shiera Hall, were reincarnations of an ancient Egyptian prince and his wife, both of whom had been killed and cursed by their rival Hath-Set.
As a young man, Hector enrolled at UCLA and met his childhood friend, Lyta Trevor. The two began to date and fell in love. The two decided to apply for membership in the Justice Society of America, but would be turned down due to their age and inexperience. Not willing to give up, they applied again. Feeling sympathy for the youngsters, the Star-Spangled Kid decided to leave the JSA in order to create a new group, calling themselves Infinity, Inc.Hector would manage to cheat death: his consciousness had been cast into the Dreaming, where it was discovered by Brute and Glob, servants of Morpheus, the Sandman. Left loose following the imprisonment of Morpheus during the first half of the 20th century, Brute and Glob had taken to recruiting mortals as surrogate "masters of dreams," whom they hoped to use as a means to create their own dream kingdom. Hector was one such pawn, and he adopted the costumed identity of the Sandman, previously used by Brute and Glob's former "master" Dr. Garrett Sanford, who had killed himself after losing his sanity in their "Dream Stream."
The Endless
Delirium: The youngest of the Endless and mistress of the mentally disturbed.[2] She smells of sweat, sour wines, late nights, old leather. Her realm is close, and can be visited; however, human minds were not made to comprehend her domain, and those few who have made the journey have been incapable of reporting back more than the tiniest fragments. The poet Coleridge claimed to have known her intimately, but the man was an inveterate liar, and in this, as in so much, we must doubt his word. Her appearance is the most variable of all the Endless, who, at best, are ideas cloaked in the semblance of flesh. Her shadow's shape and outline has no relationship to that of any body she wears, and it is tangible, like old velvet. Some say the tragedy of Delirium is her knowledge that, despite being older than suns, older than gods, she is forever the youngest of the Endless, who do not measure time as we measure time, or see the worlds through mortal eyes. Others deny this, and say that Delirium has no tragedy, but here they speak without reflection. For Delirium was once Delight. And although that was long ago now, even today her eyes are badly matched: one eye is a vivid emerald green, spattered with silver flecks that move; her other eye is vein blue. Who knows what Delirium sees, through her mismatched eyes?[1] Her sigil is a swirl of colors that fade to black if she is upset; when she was Delight, her sigil was a flower.
The Endless
Despair: Despair, Desire's sister and twin, is queen of her own bleak bourne. It is said that scattered through Despair's domain are a multitude of tiny windows, hanging in the void. Each window looks out onto a different scene, being, in our world, a mirror. Sometimes you will look into a mirror and feel the eyes of Despair upon you, feel her hook catch and snag on your heart. Her skin is cold, and clammy; her eyes are the colour of sky, on the grey, wet days that leach the world of colour and meaning; her voice is little more than a whisper; and while she has no odour, her, shadow smells musky, and pungent, like the skin of a snake. Many years gone, a sect in what is now Afghanistan declared her a goddess, and proclaimed all empty rooms her sacred places. The sect, whose members called themselves The Unforgiven, persisted for two years, until its last adherent finally killed himself, having survived the other members by almost seven months. Despair says little, and is patient.[1] She funnels despair into mortal souls.[2] Her sigil is a hooked ring that she wears on her finger, sometimes used to cut herself when she is in a stressed mood. She is the first Endless to have had an aspect killed, with the second being Dream.
The Endless
Desire: Desire is of medium height. It is unlikely that any portrait will ever do Desire justice, since to see her (or him) is to love him (or her),- passionately, painfully, to the exclusion of all else. Desire smells almost subliminally of summer peaches, and casts two shadows: one black and sharp-edged, the other translucent and forever wavering, like heat haze. Desire smiles in brief flashes, like sunlight glinting from a knife-edge. And there is much else that is knife-like about Desire. Never a possession, always the possessor, with skin as pale as smoke, and eyes tawny and sharp as yellow wine: Desire is everything you have ever wanted. Whoever you are. Whatever you are. Everything.[1] Their realm is The Threshold and from an aerial shot, it is revealed to be the form of Desire itself, a statue of their body in which Desire lives in the heart. Desire's sigil is a glass heart.
The Endless
Destruction: A broad-shouldered, tall, red-headed man. He abandoned his realm 300 years ago. Since then, he has made very little contact with his siblings. While he was with the family, however, he was boisterous and warm-hearted, the one that effectively held the family together in relative amity. His realm, The Fulcrum was stated to be completely abandoned and sealed, having abandoned his duties as an Endless, with no one being able to enter into the realm as no one was within to give an invitation. However, when he lived in hiding, he left his gallery within him where he left it in a locked room of his house which he called "The Family Room". Destruction governs transformation and change.[2] His sigil was a sword.
The Endless
Dream: The moody, pale, and dark-haired protagonist of the series. His 70 years of imprisonment have changed him with major effects, as shown throughout the books. His eyes often glitter strangely, like twin stars. His realm is The Dreaming, one of the main settings of the Sandman story. His sigil is the helm that he wears into battle. Of all the Endless, save perhaps Destiny, he is most conscious of his responsibilities, the most meticulous in their execution. Dream casts a human shadow, when it occurs to him to do so.[1] Dream is ruler of the Dreaming, where all minds are linked.[2]
Daniel Hall: The successor to Morpheus. He became the new Dream Lord after Morpheus gave up his existence against the Kindly Ones; Daniel then absorbed Dream's very essence and transformed into the entity. Daniel possesses all of Morpheus' memories. The two are in fact the same being, with Daniel being a different "point of view" of the dream lord. He is noticeably kinder and more open than Morpheus was.
The Endless
Death: Present since the beginning of the universe, created soon after her eldest sibling, Destiny. As old as life itself, Death chooses to live one day in every century as a mortal, to better relate to the beings she escorts to the realms beyond. Closest to her younger brother, Dream, Death will continue to manifest herself across the cosmos until the last living thing dies, when, she declares: "I'll turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave." Unlike the rest of the Endless, who live in various astral realms, Death lives in a small house on Earth. Her realm has been referred to as "The Light at the End of the Tunnel" and "The Sunless Lands." She most often appears as a teenage girl with white skin and black hair. Death takes each being in the universe to their final resting place. Her sacred sigil is the ankh.
The Endless
The Endless are a dysfunctional family and do not often get along with each other. Destiny is aloof and rarely interacts with or aids others. Destruction has left them. The three youngest siblings dislike Dream, as they believe he is too arrogant and considers himself better than them. Desire often manipulates others, teasing them and trying to anger them. Delirium confesses that she finds Dream scary, and often feels like he is silently mocking her. Death is the only one who seems to be on relatively good terms with every other member of the family.
Destiny: The oldest of the Endless; in the Beginning was the Word, and it was traced by hand on the first page of his book, before ever it was spoken aloud. Destiny is also the tallest of the Endless, to mortal eyes. There are some who believe him to be blind; whilst others, perhaps with more reason, claim that he has travelled far beyond blindness, that indeed, he can do nothing but see: that he sees the fine traceries the galaxies make as they spiral through the void, that he watches the intricate patterns living things make on their journey through time.[1] He is chained to his Eternity Book, which records everything that has or will ever happen.[2] Destiny's realm is named The Garden of Forking Ways, a labyrinth that represents life's journey. Destiny's sigil is the book that he has chained to his wrist.

The Endless are the anthropomorphic representations of the powerful natural forces they embody. They regard themselves as a family, referring to each other as siblings, and they are known to be the children of the cosmic entities Night and Time.
From oldest to youngest they are: Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, Desire, Despair, and Delirium, who was previously known as Delight.
Each of the Endless has a realm in which they are absolute sovereign. Within their realm, all members of the Endless have a "gallery" containing symbols or sigils of the other Endless. The Endless may contact each other by holding the appropriate sigil and calling for that member of the Endless. Within these galleries, each of The Endless also possesses a sigil, though it is not necessary to hold the sigil when you speak to another Endless; it seems to be customary to hold it, tell your sibling that you hold their sigil, and then ask permission to enter their realm or call them into yours. Destiny is also able to summon his siblings by using his gallery of portraits, whether they want it or not (as seen in The Sandman: Overture). As shown with Dream and Despair, it is possible for each of the Endless to contact the other Endless without necessarily holding their sigil or even being in the gallery. This is seen when Despair is able to call Dream using her own sigil to challenge him, while Dream is able to contact his siblings by drawing their individual sigils using any available materials and then calling them.
