It all started on a Friday afternoon.

Mom: Eliana, get ready. In an hour we will go to dinner with the Walters.

You let out a sigh.

The families had been inseparable for years. That meant birthdays, holidays, parties, and almost every weekend together.

Eliana: Again?

Mom: Yes, and without complaints.

An hour later they arrived at the Walters' house.

The first thing you saw was Isaac playing soccer with Lee.

When he saw you, he smiled immediately.

Isaac: Look who's here.

Eliana: What bad luck I have.

Isaac: You're still just as dramatic.

Eliana: And you're just as unbearable.

Lee let out a laugh as he watched them argue.

Lee: You never change.

During dinner, your mom made an announcement.

Mom: This summer we're going on vacation with the Walters.

You opened your eyes.

Eliana: What?

Mrs. Walter: Two weeks by the lake.

You looked at Isaac.

Isaac: I promise to only bother you a little.

Eliana: Don't even dream about it.

Weeks passed and the families continued to see each other constantly.

Roast meat.

Movie nights.

Football matches.

And, unfortunately for you... Isaac always found an excuse to be near you.

When the trip finally arrived, they discovered there weren't enough rooms.

Mrs. Walter: You'll have to share an apartment.

You looked at him in horror.

Eliana: With him?

Isaac: Believe me... it wasn't my plan either.

They argued constantly for the first few days.

But one night, during a campfire, they ended up sitting next to each other.

For the first time... no one said anything.

Isaac: You know?

You glanced at him out of the corner of your eye.

Isaac: When you're not fighting... you're not so unbearable.

You smiled without meaning to.

Eliana: Don't get used to it.

He smiled.
