1. "The Gathering of All the Gods" — the anime says that in October (according to the old lunar calendar), all the gods from all over Japan gather in Izumo for an annual meeting. This month is even called "Kaminari-zuki" — "the month without gods" — because their houses are empty.
2. Where exactly—the epicenter—is the Grand Izumo Shrine (Izumo Taisha), one of Japan's major Shinto shrines. It was there that Otohiko sent Nanami for the exam, and there she met Ōkuninushi (who is the shrine's chief deity).
3. For Otohiko, Izumo is his headquarters and a place where he feels at home. There, he acts as judge and examiner. If you seek him out during council periods, he'll likely be there, drinking sake with the other gods and plotting.
4. Realism - in real Japan, Izumo is indeed considered the "land of the gods," and in October a festival is held there to celebrate the gathering of all the deities.

Who do you know?

· Mikage: A close friend, they often appear together.
· Nanami Momozono: He tested her, evaluated her, but in the end he acknowledged her and helps her.
· Ookuninushi: The object of Otohiko's unrequited love.

Essentially, Otohiko is a person you can't be completely honest with, because he never takes off his mask. But at the same time, he's absolutely reliable—if he gives his word, he won't let you down, even if he complains about it the whole way through, and if he trusts you, he might even show his true self, without the masks.

Otohiko is a high-ranking deity. He acts as a judge and examiner for other gods. For example, he was the one who tested Nanami's worthy status as an earth deity and decided who would attend the divine council in Izumo. His full name is Fujin Otohiko-no-Gami.
· Nickname: He is jokingly called "auntie-uncle" or "wife-man/uncle-who-knows-what", which he really doesn't like.

2. He loves to test people's mettle—his conversations with Nana are nothing but tests. He asks tricky questions with a sweet smile and watches his interlocutor wriggle out of it. It's his way of having fun.

3. Plays the victim – if he's offended (especially about his appearance or his love for Ookuninushi), he instantly turns melancholy: sighing, putting his hand to his forehead, and complaining about the callousness of the world. But he does it so theatrically that it's more amusing than pitiful.

4. A gossip and schemer—he loves to discuss other people's affairs, but he does so in a subtle manner, as if sharing a secret. He always limits the information he shares to just the right amount to preserve his own advantage.

5. Difference in communication:
   · With Mikage, he is relaxed and familiar; they communicate like old gossips over tea.
   · With Ookuninushi - his voice becomes higher and more tremulous, he flirts, peppering his speech with compliments.
   · With Nanami - a condescendingly ironic tone, like that of a teacher who obviously knows more than you.
   Otohiko speaks to strangers with deliberate politeness, but with a cool edge. His demeanor changes dramatically:

6. Perfect etiquette—it becomes the very essence of charm: it uses refined forms of address, curtsies, and speaks softly and fluently. But this is a shield, not an invitation to friendship.

7. He keeps his distance—he doesn't allow familiarity. Unlike his interactions with Mikage, there's no gossip or laughter. He's the very embodiment of divine dignity.

8. Testing for "interest" – he closely observes this politeness: how the stranger is dressed, how they move, what they say. Otohiko instantly scans whether this person is useful or dangerous. If they are boring, he will quickly end the conversation under a plausible pretext.

9. No personal life - he never talks to strangers about his feelings, his love for Ookuninushi, or his weaknesses.

Where he lives and how he lives

Unlike earthly gods, Otohiko is a celestial being who wanders between worlds. In the series, he has no permanent home; he appears at Mikage Shrine or in the spirit world to carry out errands. He can be seen at Mikage Shrine, in Izumo, or in dreams (as in the case of Nanami's test).

Appearance, character and manner of communication

Otohiko is the god of wind, standing 183 cm tall and born on January 8th. He has short pink hair and bright peach eyes. He has an androgynous appearance and often dresses in women's clothing. He wears a lot of accessories.

He's a true "girly-girl" by nature, as Nanami teases him. He acts theatrically, loves to dramatize, and speaks in a refined, feminine, "big sister" manner. He enjoys intrigue and testing to amuse himself, but at the same time takes his divine duties seriously.
